This company was paid about ****** by my home owners ins. Plus my deductable. To replace roof and broken trusses. Within 1-1.5 years the roof leaked through the ceiling drywall. I met with them in 2/25 and they accepted all fault. They put in additional vents ( but not to code) and fixed drywall. An additional leak occured while I was there for the week of the meeting. They called the first leak condensation, the second ice dam. They claim they are done with repairs. However, they never pulled a structional permit as required by the city for the truss work and apparently do not intend to do so now. They did paint over the second leak but continue to say it was caused by ice dam. I have had another contractor come and look at the repairs and stated venting is not to code. Also, given snow fall and rain he does not believe ice damming is the issue. He feels venting was the issue. I now feel that they cut corners to benefit their profit from the job. This work was completed by the Spokane WA. location.

I am rejecting this response because:

    Sincerely,

    Vicky Olson

I have been told that the actions you are now suggesting, were to be done during the repair process. Is now going to be done. I have documentation on what was to be completed and was not by Alpine. I am not satisfied as this is the same response given to me during our meeting. I am not yet willing to close my complaint at this time. In the photo above you can see the the metal clamp this is not fully seated and it is just one 2x4 not 2 as billed to insurance. Plus the permitting for the work has yet to be pulled.

    Complaint: 23010622

I am rejecting this response because: They claimed they had a structional engineer out to my house on April 8th. They have not disclosed their findings as of today. The city of Post Falls stated they have not as of April 8th recieved the documents need for inspection. It is required that the city sign off on this requirement. The city has no idea who went out to the property.

I am rejecting this response because: this is what still needs to be completed: Please let me know if Friday works right away.

Here are the items the engineer recommended be corrected:

     • 2x4 Sistering: (1) 2x4 DF#1 each side, nailed w/ 0.148x3” nails @ 8” o/c staggered, 1” min edge, alternating sides, plus (2) beads construction adhesive.
    • Gussets at Nail Plates: Add 18”x24” (24” along top chord) 3/4” Structural-I plywood gussets each side, secured w/ 0.113x2” nails, min (2) rows of (5) nails per chord/web, plus adhesive.
    • Bottom Chords Check: Remove insulation, inspect for broken bottom chords, document clearly with photos.

    Ben Beckett

According to their inspection. This is substantial evidence that the work was not completed in accordance with a structional engineer or the City of Post Falls. We have agreed that Alpine Roofing will be out to do additional work this Friday.

As of today May 1, City of Post Falls reports thet have yet to receive any engineered drawings from a Idaho engineer. They also have not had any requests to obtain the appropriate permits. This is required in Idaho. I will NOT accept non permited work. Alpine has not informed me of the number of trusses they claim to have fixed according to who ever they had inspect. Obviously, not through the Idaho process in Post Falls. I can not accept the work at this point. They seem to be cutting corners in my opinion.

Last year we had siding put on which ran ** 36k; this year we had a roof put on by Alpine Roofing ******* (who claims to be BBB certified on their website, but couldn't be found in the search bar during the filing of this complaint). When they nailed in the rain guard the nailed through the fascia causing oil canning. Some nails aren't even through the guard, they are just in the fascia. They destroyed 3-5k worth of work. I contacted the owner who said he would come out and look. He promptly called me the following morning stating it was there before he installed the roof (they are roofing nails; we have a Ring... he never set foot on our property). We know this because the siding company did a 1 year inspection roughly 30 days after the completion of the roof.
