Rented a car online through Argus car rental in ******, *******. When we went to locate the rental agency the day before we were to pick up the car, so we would know where to go in an unfamiliar city, there was no agency at the address listed or anywhere in the area. No one in the vicinity could find the address, including the police station we went to. Since we did not speak the language, our ****** host called the two numbers listed on the rental agreement - no answer. We walked for hours, used the latitude/longitude gps, and kept ending up on the same street corner. No car rental. We ended up renting elsewhere through our ******. We have been in contact with Tarek from ************************************************ We have provided all the information but have not heard back. Attached is the email plus our response.Initial Complaint

America Car Rental has lied to you about what happened. Argus have failed to conduct an impartial investigation and failed to explain why Argus adopted Americas version of the story instead of our facts. Arguss investigation is biased in favor of you keeping our money and their decision is unacceptable. Timeline of events 5/28/24 we booked car rental and insurance through Kayak then re-routed to Argus. Here are the charges on our credit card statement:5/30/24 ET CAR HIRE D14R7V2 $55.94 5/30/24 ALLIANZ TRAVEL INS ALLIANZINS.USVA $99.00 On 6/2/24 we arrived at ******* Car Rental. The America agent said they did not have a record of our having paid anything, despite our having paid a rental fee of $55.94 and insurance fee of $99 on 5/30/24. The America agent said that if we wanted the car, we needed to pay the rental and insurance again. We left without the car.On 6/7/24 we called Argus and we asked for a refund. For our conversation, they gave us a reference # of U2534958. On 7/2/24 we first asked that our case be escalated to a supervisor. As of 8/5/24, this request has been ignored. As of 8/5/24, we have communicated via email several times with an Argus agent. On multiple occasions, we have sent bank documents showing that we had the credit/sufficient funds to rent the car. The Argus agent continues to ask for a bank document in a different format; however, no such documents exist or we do not have access to such a document. On 8/2/24 Argus advised us that America Car Rental represented that we refused to pay for insurance and that is why we left without the car (not true). Argus said they were denying our request for a refund. As of 8/5/24, 59 days have passed since we first requested a refund on 6/7.Please advise as to what supporting documents you would like for this case.Initial Complaint

I am writing to detail an incident regarding my rental car booking through Argus Car Hire, with Wheego as the rental car provider, for the dates December 8 - 11, 2023.Upon my arrival at the Wheego rental desk at *************************** on December 8 at 2 pm, I encountered several issues. Initially, ****** struggled to locate my booking, resulting in a 30-minute delay. Once the booking was found, I was informed that I had to purchase ******'s own insurance policy, despite my existing auto insurance covering rental vehicles. ****** claimed that only third-party insurance policies from four specific companies were accepted, and my provider was not among them.I reviewed the original rental terms I received from Argus in my contract and found no stipulation supporting this restrictive insurance policy. Despite my assurances that my personal insurance covers rental cars, ****** refused to release the vehicle, leaving me without transportation. They advised that the refund would have to be processed through Argus Car Hire, as my payment was made to them.I have repeatedly contacted Argus Car Hire for a refund, but have been met with resistance, being told it was my fault for not taking the car despite the insurance policy restriction imposed by ******.This discrepancy between the stated policies and the actual terms of my rental contract is unacceptable and needs to be addressed to ensure a smoother and more transparent customer experience. I hope you could help exert pressure on Argus Car Hire to process my refund promptly --- and review their policies to prevent such issues in the future.Initial Complaint

I booked a car rental with through Argus Car Hire on May 11, 2024. I initially found the listing for the car on another booking website, Kayak.com, which indicated a price of $309 CAD with the young driver surcharge included (screenshot attached). Clicking on that listing on Kayak.com redirected me to Argus Car Hire, which showed the same price of $309 CAD but did not clearly indicate whether or not the young drivers surcharge was included, so I decided to reach out to their customer service to directly confirm with them. When I asked if the listed price $236.36 USD ($309 CAD) included the young driver surcharge, the agent explicitly told me "yes" (screenshot attached). At this point I felt assured that I would not be paying extra for the young drivers surcharge. However, when I arrived at the car rental pick site, I was shocked when I discovered I still had to pay an additional $145 USD ($200 CAD) for the young drivers surcharge that I was told had been already included. This appears as "age differential" on the Thrifty ******** Receipt attached below. This was a very unpleasant experience, and Argus Car Hire was unwilling to acknowledge that their customer service agent misinformed me and refused to compensate the young drivers surcharge. I don't believe it's right that their agent can directly misinform me about a fee that I explicitly asked them about and for there to be no consequences for the company. I would like to receive a refund on the $145 USD for the young driver surcharge that they told me was included in their listed price.Initial Complaint

I contacted the company because I was going to be late to pick up the vehicle. They told me that I cannot pick up the vehicle because they marked me as a no show.I asked them for a refund because I prepaid for the vehicle, therefore it should be mine at any time during the time I need to pick it up.I could be stuck in traffic, flight could have been delayed, etc... the fact of the matter is they took my money and gave me no leniency on picking up the vehicle. If I pay for something, I should be entitled to what I pay for. If not, I should be entitled to a refundInitial Complaint

I reserved a car for pickup at the ******************************. My flight was delayed. Unbeknownst to me, the car rental place closed at 8pm, and by the time I arrived at the pickup spot, there was nobody to answer the phone. I was not informed by anyone at any point that I would be missing my pickup. When I called the business the next day, I was told that my reservation was canceled and my car was no longer available. Not only did I have to spend money on train fare downtown, but I had to rent a car downtown. Argus is refusing to refund my money.Initial Complaint
