We contacted *** Oates to inspect a clogged pipe. Before even assessing the issue, we were charged $689. Afterward, we were told that additional work was needed, totaling over $10,000. We requested a detailed quote by email, but never received it. We feel scammed out of $689 and are extremely disappointed with the experience. I would not recommend this company.

Thank you for your feedback. Were sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience.
To clarify, the $689 charge was for the work completed to clear your sewer line during our visit. Our technician also identified additional issues and provided an estimate for the necessary repairs. A detailed quote was emailed as requested, and we apologize if it did not come through or was overlooked wed be happy to resend it.
We understand that unexpected plumbing issues and repair costs can be frustrating, and its never our intention to make anyone feel misled. We aim to provide honest, thorough service and transparent communication every step of the way.
If youd like to discuss this further, please dont hesitate to reach out to our General Manager, ****, at ************. Wed appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly and help resolve any concerns.

Price Gougers!!!! (I have many other descriptive words). I've used *** Oates in the past, I get my sewer snaked every year because of the tree roots. I last did this in 2020 for $350, but their recent quote in 2022 (for the same exact job) was $535!!! That's a 153% increase in their price - But did their costs increase by that much? Absolutely not. Sure things are 5% to 15% more expensive these days, but 153% is just way too much!!!! That's price gouging !!!!! Avoid this company and get multiple quotes. I ended up renting a machine at Herc Rentals in Fremont and paid less than $100.

*** Oates repaired my neighbor's side sewer last summer. She was not happy with the cost (eventually $28k) or the delays (two months from start to finish).Five months later, on Xmas day, my sewer backs up. It turns out *** Oates lined both the side sewer and the standpipe, blocking my side sewer's drainage. They insisted they had done their job correctly even though there had been no city inspection last summer. Until we did 8k of work on our own sewer with another company and were able to show them a scope clearly indicating their liner obstructing our pipe. They then did a rush fix to grind a hole through their liner (damaging their work for the neighbor) and left a circular saw drill bit sitting in the pipe until we scoped it and sent them another pic.And after all that, they still insist no more inspection is required.

*************** completely took advantage of my tenants when I was out of town and they had a leaky faucet. They charged $922 to fix a leaky faucet - I was okay with the emergency fee ($105) and surcharge ($132) when I saw the ****, but they charged $600 for finding a less than $10 part and fixing it. The entire **** should have been no more than a couple hundred bucks. They completely took advantage of my tenants' naive knowledge of plumbing. If I weren't dropping my son off at college, i would have fixed it myself and would never have agreed to that amount. I think the tech, Jeo, and the company *** Oates have a complete lack of integrity.
