Hello,On November 12th 2023, I took two pairs of boots to Admiral Shoe Repair in West *******. The first I asked the heel be repaired where the rubber sole was separating and to also restore the footbed of both shoes as one boot it had fractured. He agreed to that work and also charged me for a cleaning. He did not clean them and the footbed was still broken. The second pair was a pair, cowboy boots, needed new soles and the liner tacked down. He again agreed. When I picked them up the liner was not tacked down and he had added a leather patch inside, but he didn't bother removing the original leather patch. Not only did this make the issue of removing the boots even worse, almost impossible, it also made them too small now.He insisted I pay upfront, and I did, $183.86.When I picked them up I commented that the first pair really didn't look clean, he said it was as good as they get, I was able to make significant progress with a sponge at home. (he advertises shoe cleaning specifically on the side of his business.) I also commented that the liner in the cowboy boots hadn't been fixed. He said the leather patch would fix everything for me. When I took them back in to explain that the footbed of the first boots was still broken and that the leather patch he'd added to the cowboy boots had made the issue of taking them off way worse and made them too small, he got very angry. He told me he did perfect work and refused when I asked him to either fix them correctly or refund me. I'm wearing my dress boots to work now because the cowboy boots are now so unwearable. In order to tack down the liner, a competent cobbler is going to have to remove the new soles he'd put on making even that part of the repair useless. In the second photo you can see the original black leather patch and the new light patch he added on top of it.
