Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to file a formal complaint against Sun Path Solar for their unprofessional conduct and inadequate service, which has caused significant distress and financial hardship.Sun Path Solar assessed my home for the installation of new solar panels and informed me that my roof had an estimated remaining lifespan of ten years. However, it has come to light that my roof was, in fact, in a deplorable condition. This was confirmed by my hazard insurance company, which subsequently canceled my policy six months later, as well as by three separate roofing specialists who deemed the roof far beyond repair. When my insurance policy was canceled, I engaged a roofing contractor to replace the roof and requested that Sun Path Solar remove the solar panels free of charge due to the damage they had inflicted during their installation process. Initially, Sun Path Solar quoted me approximately $4,000 for the removal and promised to schedule the work within the next three weeks. However, after I submitted a formal letter detailing the damage and requesting the removal be done pro ****, the timeline for this service inexplicably extended to three months. This delay is both unreasonable and indicative of Sun Path Solar's vindictive and unprofessional behavior. Their actions have not only been detrimental to my property but have also shown a lack of respect for customer relations and contractual obligations. Their response to my legitimate concerns has been ***** and uncooperative, which is entirely unacceptable.I urge the Better Business Bureau to take appropriate action to address this matter and to hold Sun Path Solar accountable for their misconduct. Their failure to provide timely and fair service has been a significant inconvenience and has caused undue financial strain.Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.

    Business Response

    Hello,

Sun Path Electric disagrees with the customers comments. We offer no guarantee on roof quality and condition in our contract or verbally. We ask clients how old their roof is and if it is suitable for solar and it is the client's responsibility to get their roof checkedand make sure it is suitable for solar. When our solar representative was on site, he thought the roof looked to be in suitable condition to add solar panels. We are not roofers and make no claims to be roofers and we always make it clear that checking the roof is the clients responsibility.

The client is a victim of the insurance industry and their new strategy of sending drones over homes they insure. The insurance industry is raising rates and cancelling home insurance on people across the nation and this is the industry that is responsible for the clients issues. The insurance industry told him he needed to replace the roof.

Sun Path Electric offered, by email, to remove the panels and reinstall the panels at no cost. The client did not see this email and instead of calling Sun Path Electric to confirm what our decision was, he filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The client then selected a new metal shingle roof type that Sun Path Electric does not install. The client did consult Sun Path Electric. We have told the client via email that we will install on this roof, but can make no warrantees as we are not comfortable installing on this type of roof. We are charging for the additional time and extra cost of materials we will need to install solar on this roof. The client, has not sent back a signed contract, for the removal and reinstallation, despite our sending it to him 3 times.

We have never had a complaint in 6 years of operating our business and feel like we have done everything in our power to help this client.

    Thank you,
