When my daughter was a senior in high school, we received a flyer from ******************************************* College Funding Systems inviting us to a seminar about paying for college and filling out the ****** With 3 children to put through college, we attended--THAT WAS THE ***** At the seminar, they claimed that most people needed help filling out the ***** and offered their services for a fee. We signed up, providing them all our financial information, assets, and tax info as they requested. We are not rich by any means. I later realized Grossman doesnt make money on ***** help, their primary goal was to sell products for commissions. During the ***** process, we met with owner, ****** Grossman. He suggested we off-load our cash savings to lower our assets for a more favorable ***** outcome, promising to help us invest the money. Trusting him, I emphasized our need for short-term investments since our 2 younger children would enter college soon. Grossmans focus, however, shifted from our goals to his own financial commission gain. Grossman sold us a life insurance policy with an expensive rider attachment. Grossman misled us into believing this was a viable investment, but (we learned) life insurance typically yields no growth unless one dies. Also not made clear to us, we were paying $5,654 yearly in rider premiums. ******* earn large commissions for selling such products, and Grossman likely profited significantly from us. When it was time to withdraw funds for our next childs college, we discovered we had to leave the money tied up for nearly 20 years just to break even. We lost nearly $10,000 in principal alone. I called Grossman for clarification. During our discussions,Grossman remained flippant and even laughed saying this is really no big deal. Our children will attend college, but our retirement plans have been compromised. Consumers should be wary of Grossman&Associates College Funding Systems; they gained our trust, then misled, deceived and scammed us. ******!
