Issue: Charging a $175 SERVICE CALL fee without disclosing they were going to charge one. We called this company to get an estimate about our septic issue. Spoke with a receptionist that stated she would speak to her boss (****) about this issue we were having. We then spoke with the owner ****. After a lengthy discussion with him about the septic issue we were having, he said he would send someone out to take a look. At no time during any of the conversations, was it mentioned that there would be a service call fee. Being an experienced septic company, after our conversation describing the issue, at that point they should've told us they don't dig and wouldn't be able to help us. Instead, they sent their employee, *****, out to look, he stated they dont do that kind of work and dont dig up stuff which they clearly knew from the phone conversation that they wouldn't be able to help us. If you are an honest company and have been in the industry for ** years, how do you not know there is going to be some form of digging? Septic system repairs generally require some sort of digging. They stated they dont do any digging. All along they knew we couldnt use them, they shouldnt have sent any one out. How many other people are they taking advantage of with a $175 service call fee in the same regard? If it had been mentioned that there was a service call fee, we would not have them come out to our property. They were the only company out of six that we had come look at the issue that is trying to charge a service call fee. We feel that they were not up front with us, never once mentioned there would be a service call fee. If a company is going to charge a service charge, they should disclose that right up front during the initial conversation, not send a bill without ever mentioning it. We have tried to dispute this with them directly with no resolution and now they are threatening to send us to collections. We do not owe this service call fee. Invoice #**-1645.

*******************, *************************************************************************** -  HAD CALLED ** STATING HE WAS HAVING BACKUP ISSUES WITH HIS SEPTIC **** ON HIS PROPERTY. THE ****** **** CALLED MR. ****** TO TALK ABOUT THE ISSUE HE WAS HAVING & TOLD MR. ****** THAT THE DRIVERS/TECHNICIANS WOULD BE OUT TO ASSESS THE ISSUE.

THE DRIVERS (2), DROVE FROM OUR OFFICE AT ************************ TO HIS PROPERTY IN *************** WHICH IS APPROXIETMLY 24 MILES, WHICH IS A 48 MILES ROUND TRIP. THE DRIVERS ASSESSED THAT THE ISSUE WITH THE SEPTIC **** WAS DUE TO THE **** THAT THE SEPTIC **** HAD SETTLED AT AN ANGLE AND/OR THE COMPANY WHO INSTALLED THE **** INSTALLED IT INCORRECTLY CAUSING THE OUTLET BAFFLE TO BE ANGLED CAUSING THE **** TO BE ABOVE OPERATING LEVEL. THERE WAS NOTHING THE DRIVERS/TECHNICIANS COULD DO TO RECTIFY *************** ISSUE. THE DRIVERS/TECHNICIANS REFERRED MR. ****** TO ********************* & ****************.

AS **************** STATED HE HAD CALLED 6 OTHER COMPANIES & THE ONLY COMPANY THAT WOULD GO OUT TO HIS PROPERTY TO ASSESS THE SEPTIC ISSUE ASAP WAS TRI COUNTY SEPTIC CO LLC.

WE SERVICED *************** ON 9/11/20** & MAILED THE INVOICE #**-1645 ON 9/12/20**. ON 10/14/**, THE 30 DAY LATE PAYMENT WAS MAILED TO MR. ******. IT WAS NOT UNTIL 11/8/20** THAT WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM *************** THAT HE WAS REFUSING PAYMENT FOR THE SERVICE CALL TO HIS PROPERTY.

**************** WAS IN ERROR IN THINKING WE WERE GOING TO DRIVE OUT TO HIS PROPERTY FOR FREE TO ASSESS THE ISSUE WAS HIS MISTAKE NOT OURS. THERE IS NO SEPTIC COMPANY IN ******* THAT WOULD NOT CHARGE A SERVICE CALL TO DRIVE OUT TO HIS PROPERTY IN ***************, **. ESPECIALLY WITH THE INCREASING DIESEL FUEL PRICES AT $5.40 A/GAL AND TO PAY EMPLOYEE WAGES. FOR EXAMPLE; IF YOU WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR FURNACE & THE COMPANY CAME OUT TO FIND THE ISSUE, YOU WOULD BE CHARGED A SERVICE CALL EVEN IF NO SERVICE WAS PROVIDED.

AS PER OUR RESPONSE TO MR. ****** REFUSAL OF PAYMENT LETTER ,  TO AVOID LATE FEES, PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BY 12-12-**  OR THIS INVOICE WILL BE SENT TO COLLECTIONS.
