Lochsa Stone LLC helped fit a cooktop into our granite island. While talking with ***** in the kitchen, he said he'd be happy to bid the completion of my back deck. I was super happy and felt I could trust him, especially after my prior contractor bailed on me. Turns out Lochsa Stone bailed on me also; cut me off and dismissed me with a few dry texts. ********, *****'s wife, wouldn't take or return my phone calls. She insisted that we communicate by text. ***** took my down payment without a receipt. It was late Fall, but ***** couldn't get to the job before snow fell. I asked for my deposit back because it was many months before he could start the job. I assured him I absolutely wanted him to do the work first thing early Spring. I reached out to ***** to get me on the calendar. He said he'd talk to ******** about scheduling me and would call me that evening. He never called back. A couple days went by so I called him back a few times. Nothing. Then I called ********* his wife. She wouldn't pick up either. Instead she texts me, "unfortunately we won't be able to do your deck." I asked if we could talk so that I could understand what's going on. We did have a verbal agreement but obviously they did not honor it. She replied, "text is fine." Then she texts me, "...return of down payment makes our agreement void." The fact Lochsa wouldn't show the basic common courtesy of taking a phone call and explaining what changed was unprofessional and poor conduct. ***** ghosted me after calling me his "brother," and ******** basically dismissed me with a Dear **** text. She never even replied to my last few texts. Lochsa left me high and dry. The truth is, if she explained that ***** would prefer not to do the job, and apologize for the change of mind, I'd be upset, but at least I'd understand. FYI I still don't know the reason. They can act very friendly and warm, but get a receipt, get the bid in writing, and be willing to communicate by text (and email).
