    I filed my taxes with Jackson Hewitt this year. I have used them in the past without any issues. I called this location to inquire on how much it would cost to get my taxes done. I know each location charges differently. I called to verify with the location Ive used previously and was told I would be charged the $300 I have always been charged. I have always been charged a little over $300 for one w-2 and claiming one dependent. This year was just the same and nothing had changed. When I got my taxes done this year the tax preparer seemed very much in a rush. She didnt tell me exactly what she was charging beforehand, didnt ask me if I agreed to the price of the services before sending my paperwork off to the *** and didnt ask me whether I wanted to pay in cash today or have the charges taken out of my refund. The whole interaction was over and done with within 10 minutes. It was only when I got home that I realized I was charged $803.95 for services when I was looking over the paperwork. I couldnt believe how expensive it was considering the location I used is the same as the past, the documents I filed were identical as well. Everything was indentical yet I was charged an extra $500. After calling Jackson Hewitt and speaking with a manager she informed me they did raise their prices $200 this year. That is all fine and ***** but why wasnt I informed of this beforehand and why was I blatantly lied to saying it would cost the same price as always, $300 + instead of the new price $500 + with the new increase?? So my question is, is where is the extra $300 that no one can seem to account for?? I cant even find out who runs the franchise of the Jackson Hewitt I went to, to try to get this manner resolved directly. Its always a **** number and even upper management is entirely unhelpful. I want a refund of $300. With the explanation the supervisor on the phone gave me my taxes should have been $500. Not $800. Something unethical is going on and I wont stop until I get what is owed to me. I work hard for my money and dont intend to let a shady business take advantage of me and steal my money. A well run business should always be ran transparently and Jackson Hewitt is not that business. Take your business elsewhere.
