There has been a "No Surprises Law" since 2019. I was sent to Carol Milgard Breast Center by my doctor to get a mammogram. I'm supposed to get a free mammogram each year, right? Well, I gave them all my insurance information when I got there. But they just sent me a bill like I didn't even have insurance. Ok, something fell through the cracks, so I went into their online portal and put in my own insurance information. Meanwhile, they call me back for a second screening. Now I'm getting huge bills. They are trying to balance bill me for their cash price for my "free" screening (my insurance company paid them, but they want hundreds extra). And they are charging me full price for the second screening. Now I look on their website and see that my insurance plan is out of network for them. And that apparently I was supposed to request an estimate? I thought I get a free mammogram under the *************** Act -- why would I ask for an estimate? And when I presented a card for insurance that was out of network to them, why didn't they say something? And why didn't they say something about how I would have to pay for my second visit? They could have easily mentioned this in the letter they sent.Well, they were supposed to, according to the law! Look I'm a healthcare provider, and when someone calls me and I don't take their plan, I TELL THEM. It's not that hard. How can Carol Milgard not do that? Especially when IT IS THE ****** I truly cannot recommend this place to anyone -- it's not about healthcare -- it's about money.

Were sorry to hear of this negative experience but appreciate you reaching out so that we can address your concern. Screening mammograms are a covered benefit in ****************. In some instances, patients are called back for additional diagnostic imaging based on findings from a screening mammogram. Diagnostic mammograms are subject to deductible and co-insurance/pay.We cannot provide specific patient account information on a public forum. We understand that can be frustrating please feel free to reach out to us at **************, option 0 and ask for our patient accounts team and we will do our best to answer your questions. Thank you, the Carol Milgard Breast Center.
