On 11/22/2020 I purchased a sofa for $611 and a 5 year warrant from Discount Direct Furniture, but despite my following story, they refuse to assist me with my damaged furniture. While their about us on their website states their mantra is to always do the right thing. Their sales associates who sell the policy are giving specific claim scenario guidance and are extremely uneducated or worse, intentionally lie to benefit themselves and the company. In a simple sentence, I was punished for putting my childs health first by cleaning a biohazard off my dark soft leather sofa and they refused to send a technician since there were no visible stains and only a clear odor. But what was I to do with a 7 foot long couch and a toddler? Leaving the mess in its original form could have caused severe illness. Even when I stated that it likely leaked into the crevasse of the couch, they stated it wasnt covered despite me reporting it well within their 2 week threshold. While I wasnt surprised the 3rd party warranty company found a way to split hairs to deny my claim, I was shocked when the district manager of Discount Direct Furniture himself refused to assist me in having a technician assess the damage. I am a single mom on a state employee salary trying to pay a mortgage in *************** and when I purchased their warranty, I was a brand new mom and did my due diligence to specifically ask if urine/fecal/vomit damage was covered and the sales associate **** ***** assured me anything besides pet damage would be covered and provided her business card. As a new mom, I was trying to prepare for raising a son and thought I was asking all the right questions. Its frustrating and extremely disappointing that a company who states they always do the right thing would treat a customer like this. I understand the warranty was from a 3rd party, but if their employees are giving claim advice, they also need to be held to the same standard of accountability.

As we completely understand and sympathize with this situation there are guidelines to all furniture warranties. These are accidental protection plans and only cover certain damage(s). Yes the warranty covers most accidental stains, but they do not cover any odors on furniture. The customer reached out to the warranty company and placed a claim that her son had pooped on her couch. She let them know that she did clean it but was complaining about a remaining odor. The warranty company then denied the claim due to the issue being resolved since the stain was no longer there. They let her know they do not service odors. The customer then emailed our company stating she was going to sue us since our sales associate verbally told her everything was covered. We let her know that we would reach out to the furniture warranty company and our *** to see if they could do anything else for her as far as still going out there to clean the area. The warranty company reiterated with us that odors are not covered, and that due to the customer being able to clean the stain on her own makes this claim ineligible for service. They did state they recommended to her to use an odor neutralizer spray on her couch. I then spoke with my DM and he approved of purchasing an odor neutralizer and shipping it to her at no cost. I have relayed this to the customer, but she was not satisfied with this offer.
Again, we understand the frustration of this situation and sympathize with this customer, and we are still willing to send her the odor neutralizer if she approves for it to be sent. Unfortunately, we cannot do anything further than that unless there is some sort of writing from our sales associate on her paperwork that everything is covered otherwise this is verbal assumption.

Please let me know if you have any other questions in regards to this matter and we hope this can be resolved.

      Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:

Please see the attached document labeled Rebuttle and the supporting documents I received at the point of purchase. Also the sales tax rates for those applicable periods.

      Sincerely,

The fact that the warranty only focused on the order is short sighted and should have been a much bigger sign that there was deeper damage from the one time accidental stain from my son getting sick. Attached is the warranty available online from the warranty company where I have highlighted the 5 year claim. Also, Washington businesses need to be held accountable for the lies they tell just to get a one up on the customer. I will be mailing the company a formal letter requesting a refund, the AG's office is now involved and if no refund is received by the end of the month, I will be taking the store and associate to small claims court so they can justify themselves in front of someone who can actually hold them accountable. They are a horrible business and I intend to do everything I can to spread the truth about their shady business practices and have been told by the multiple other furniture stores to sue them for a warranty refund. Their advice, I shall take. But this will never be resolved.

They fire the employees for no reason! They make them show up for work just to notify them that they are fired. The owner ***** descriminates. They sell expired food and have a RAT PLAGUE !

      To whom it may concern,

We are sorry you feel this way but we do not discriminate and take that claim very seriously.

We as a company nor the owner of Discount Direct has ever discriminated nor will we ever discriminate. If an employee was fired it was for a reason.

Our company nor the owner of Discount Direct  just fire employees. There are normally previous incidents that have led to the firing and yes we do like to do it in person for professional reasons.

As far as the rats we do not have a rat plague and as far as the food it is not expired but we do have food that has best buy dates which is not considered expired.

If there is expired food we always ask for people to bring it to our attention so we can dispose of it.

      Thank you

      Discount Direct
