10/08/2024 I went to this consignment shop to cash out for the clothes and handbags they accepted to sell in the past year. When I logged in today, the amount owing me was $104.38. The employee gave me $15.00. I told her my account reported the $104.38. She said that amount dated back to 2023. I explained I have been ill and recovering from surgery for the past 6 months plus I never was told or received a notice of a timeframe on collecting the money from my items they sold in their shop. I asked why my account showed $104.38 if I could not collect the total amount. She offered a store credit which I refused. My question to her is why would I buy more clothes after bring them to this store to sell. Can the BBB help me recover the remaining money owed to me of $89.38 ($104.38 $15.00 = $89.38)? I would appreciate your help. I am a senior citizen and feel this shop took an opportunity to not pay me the total amount owed to me.

    Hi ****,

We want to thank you for dropping off your clothing items for consignment (10/13/2023 & 12/5/2023). Your items sold very well here in the shop and you were printed 2 checks in the month of December as your total was over $40 each time. We printed a check for you 12/6/2023 in the amount of $59 and 12/31/2023 for $45.38. We called (phone # we have on file is ************) you twice (on 1/26/2024 and 2/18/2024) notifying you that you have 2 checks available to be picked up and that they would expire after 6 months. Unfortunately 6 months had passed and we had not heard from you and per our store policy, we turn any non payable funds into store credit complimentary for you. So when you came in on 10/8/2024 you had $15 available to pick up in cash which you have since received and an additional $104.38 in store credit from the expired checks.

    Thank you,

    Dear ***** *****,

Thank you for responding to my complaint filed with the BBB.

    My response is:

    1.  The 2 phone calls you reported to have been made left no voicemail or no text messages.  If I had received them, I would have responded in a timely manner.  Also you have my email because I receive emails from ******* when the store is having a sale or special event.  You had access to use other means of communication with me.

    2. Your store financially benefited from the clothing and accessories I brought in on 10/13/2023 and 12/05/2023.  You received your percentage of the sale. I have received $15.00 on 10/08/2024 with $104.38 balance.  I do not need more clothes or accessories.

I am a retiree living on minimal income owing medical bills. This money would help pay my bills. I thought partnering with your consignment shop was a way to help me financially.

    3.  The $15.00 I was given on 10/08/2024 dates back to when?  I have not been in your store in a year. This amount was not included on my account which totaled $119.38. I do not understand your accounting process:  when some accounts expire in 6 months, what amount is shown on my account and when other amounts not shown.

I am requesting payment for my percentage of the selling of the items you accepted and sold totaling $104.38.  It is my hope you will do the right thing.
