Our church (******************) purchased a CVLI license in 2023, but did not use it for anything so we decided not to renew. The organization is now saying we owe them for 2024 and 2025 because we supposedly clicked a box that agreed to perpetually auto-renew until we give them a 30-day notice of cancellation. Requiring over $700 from a church that received zero benefits from an organization is predatory and highly unethical. Furthermore, why didn't they notify us a year ago instead of trying to charge us for two years now? If they can tell us what they did for our church that is worth $700, we'd be happy to pay it in full, but it sounds like they are trapping churches in a technicality without actually providing anything of value and then sending collections after us. The representative only sent me the one invoice that I uploaded, but the other invoice was mentioned in his email. I'd be happy to forward a record of our email conversation.

Our Complaint is with CVLI. Recently we received a bill for license for the years 2022, 2023 and 2024 demanding payment for these years which were not authorized. We always paid by check for this license for many years when a bill was received, 2021 was the last active year for this services. I reached out today (Dec. 9) and was told by ***** that we would have to pay the bill and that our account was on auto renew and we were responsible to cancel. And I was told that I could not cancel the service until the past due amount was paid. And if we did not pay something would be filed against us.I am now wondering if this is a legitimate company. The agent was very aggressive and threating.123

We used **** for a number of years prior to my being hired. After being brought on and put in my current role and discovering this, we decided to cancel since their services are not needed. In 2023, I received an invoice addressed to someone who has not been associated with our church since 2012. I responded that we do not want this service and never received a response. Recently, we started getting notifications that we owed them for 2023 and 2024. After providing proof of cancellation in 2023 they offered to close the 2024 invoice but said we would still have to pay for 2023. After some back and forth, they refuse to honor our request for 2023 and then wrote, "The offer I made is no longer on the table and both invoices are now past due." This is just wrong and unfair, predatory practice with intimidation tactics. **** claims we did not ask for cancelation within their requirements, therefore, they will not cancel the invoice for a license that was never given, wanted, or necessary. This practice is unfair and unnecessary when they require cancellation 30 days before the license is even issued. Furthermore, the bills they sent were addressed to someone who was not never an employee of the Church, nor were they ever authorized to enter us into an agreement with ****. In fact this person has had no association with the church at all since 2012. We believe the invoices for 2023 and 2024 should be cancelled and **** should not issue and bills until services have been rendered. Their current policy is predatory and is being used to exploit churches who do not want their services.

On 6/12/2024 we received an email from **** ********???? in ******************** with an invoice dated over a year old, 2/24/2023 for CVLI Licensing. Subsequently, on 9/12 we received another email with invoices for 2 years of purported service. The original invoice/letter was addressed to a different email and to an employee that has not been at our church for over 5 years. We replied to the organization that "We do not use this license. It should not have been renewed. Please ensure that it is cancelled." **** responded "Per our terms and conditions, all licensing is set to auto renewal from default, unless specified by either party. Therefore, this license renewed and was never canceled before renewal."I explained about the previous employee and that we did not have any access to the account online to close it. **** responded that "**** does not have a portal or website for customers to log in. The only thing I can do is set the current license to no longer renew. Would you like me to do that?" I responded by asking him to provide written confirmation of immediate cancelation and nonrenewable of the account.Cris's pithy response was "Im going to assume you didnt read my last email and copy and paste it here for you...."This company fails to provide any way to access or cancel their services and refuses to accept any responsibility for failures on their end. We have since discovered that other churches have fallen into the same trap. We are requesting that our bill be reduced since we have not used the license, we did not request a renewal, and we were not provided for a way to access any information on the policy or account.

I am so thankful for ******, the Collections Manager. She reached out, listened to our experience, and worked quickly to resolve the matter. I felt listened to and appreciated.

Additionally, ******, the Global **************** Manager, followed up ******** call. She too was careful to spend the time to explain the situation and follow up to make sure the matter had been resolved to our satisfaction.

Our issue was with a CVLI license, which we do not need nor have we used.

We are very happy with our CCLI Licenses that we have and are actually adding another site license this week.

      Thank you resolving this.

CVLI is not like their sister company, CCLI. They do not offer an online account or any way of viewing your status or payments. They automatically renew your membership for the next year without any notice, which is illegal in the state of **. They also do not offer any means of cancelation except by phone. This creates an issue since you need to make certain it's during business hours, wait on hold for a lengthy time, then be asked to leave a message that they will return later. Then, an employee contacted me to collect payment of services I did not use on this auto renewal and informed me I wasn't allowed to cancel my membership until I paid the fee I incurred without notice. As per California law, if a business allows you to sign up online, they must allow you to cancel online as well as sending you a notice before they auto renew their services. They do not adhere to these laws and their employees are aggressive, rude, and condescending when trying to collect a payment they know was obtained deceptively.

We had a church leader who resigned at the end of 2023 and did not send us the account information for CVLI until they sent the renewal invoice. He forwarded the invoice to us on July 18. There is no place to cancel online, so I immediately called the company on July 18, 2024. The renewal is for 08/18/2024 - 08/15/2025. The gentleman told me that I had to pay for the full year that started 08/18/2024 and there was no option to cancel because I was inside 30 days of the renewal date. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me that he had no supervisor and there was no one I could speak to above him or to issue a complaint with. This is a very bad business practice and extremely frustrating. There should be some recourse or official way to register a complaint or address a grievance. This company is mostly dealing with churches many of which are small and customer service should be a high priority rather than completely ignored. They also give no option online to cancel which of course seems to be a part of their strategy to gain money from customers by making it more difficult to cancel their product.

Over the past several months an organization claiming to have licensed our church annually to show movies and films. We have never heard of this organization and they claim that we owe them money for the past two years of our supposed "auto renewal" license. I contacted them and told them that we've never had an account with them, nor do we need a license to show ********************* or movies since we do not show videos or movies. They insist we owe $624. because we didn't cancel our account 30 days prior to the auto-renewal. I have been with the church since ***************************************************** my life. This seems like fraud to me. How could we owe money for something we didn't know about and didn't want???

Our church thought we would be using this and in 2022 purchased it through our CCLI account. When renewal came by paper, we decided we didn't really use it and couldn't afford it under our budget, so I told our bookkeeper to cancel.Under our CCLI online account page it didn't show. Fast forward to the past few weeks where an aggressive employee named, *******, keeps calling us saying we owe them $308.37 for 2023 and $320.70 for 2024 renewal.I told him we canceled that because we don't use it and can't really afford it anyway. He then asked a lot of questions about where we canceled and how we know it's canceled. I told him CCLI doesn't show it at all, only if we wanted to add.His response was that doesn't matter what the website says, everything is through paper once you sign up through CCLI.Basically, it was a confusing web of very specific ways to cancel, but a whole bunch of ways to sign up. It is very predatory. I asked, how are we supposed to know if it is active. He told me we would receive paperwork and "sometimes" would update our CCLI online account to reflect it, but that the CCLI website can't be trusted for CVLI (only for purchasing). Also, for 2024 I asked who authorized and he named an employee who doesn't even work at the church anymore. So, once again, a predatory tactic. When I said, what if the church just can't afford to pay the 2023. ******* response was to ask my name and say CVLI would then come after me, but that they would receive the payment. It was after this threat I decided to contact the BBB and the **** I'm not sure why this agency that works with churches is going around threatening people.Resolution: Honor the request to cancel the account, which is reflected on the website, delete all these bills, and stop harassing my staff.
