I won an auction on a gold coin with Big Al's Auction site through *********. The gold coin was advertised in the description as being a 2018 ************ $25 gold coin in case and was a 1.2g .9999 wide flat coin. There was no gold coin in the case, only a piece of paper shaped like a gold coin. I reached out to the seller to request a refund. He claimed that the item was described correctly which was untrue and that no refund would be issued. I reached out twice more but received no replies. I kindly asked for a refund again and informed the seller that I would be contacting other entities for assistance if no offer to help was provided. The seller was dishonest and I received a bad sake of goods. I need assistance in this matter please.Thank you.

We run an online auction and state that everything is as is and expect buyers to do their due diligence. This coin was advertised as it is sold on numerous websites throughout the World. Same wording, same photos as almost every other coin. It is a legitimate "gold coin" from the *********************** and is sold as such. Anyone buying online needs to read directions that go with the sites, and all online auctions are "as is", it is the nature of the business. I'm sorry he is unhappy but he has to take responsibility to know what he is bidding on prior to bidding. Sincerely, Al Raines

I am rejecting this response because: This business did not disclose that the coin was on paper. It was deliberately misleading the way it was written. I have not seen any other websites describe it in the manner this business did. If they could at least admit that it should have been written clearer to all bidders involved and offer some amount of a refund if not full, I would be satisfied. I had reached out to them before contacting the BBB with no success in making my point and they never offered any amount of a refund. I respectfully requested them to. I hope an agreement of some kind can be reached. I have been a frequent customer of theirs and would hope they would understand my position from a buyer's perspective.

    Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:

I will say the same as my last response, the supposed gold coin was not as described and was worded in a way to mislead bidders. The description should have read that the coin was paper, not actual goal. I will continue pressing this issue until the auction company resolves the issue by giving at least a partial refund for the this item. It is not fair to mislead buyers just to sell a product at a higher price. I reached out several times to this person asking for a resolution before contacting the BBB. I ask that the complaint be escalated.

    Sincerely,
