I rented an apartment from Welcome Home Properties from May 2, 2024- May 2, 2025. During my rental period, I did not hang anything on the walls and made no (zero) holes in the walls. Upon my departure, Welcome Home Properties billed me $549.74 for paint damage repair. There were no damages whatsoever and I do not believe that Welcome Home Properties actually paid for any paint repair.

I rented an apartment from Welcome Home. I had to lease the apartment sight unseen as I came from out of town. The property manager assured me the home was in good shape when I moved in. There were large gouges in the flooring down through the floor boards, water damage in the bathroom that is causing the floor to be spongy, none of which were resolved in the 9 months I was in the house. Furthermore, I was experiencing harassment and threatening behavior from a neighbor. I let the owner know, filed a report with police, and claimed *** 59.18.575. He refused to let me move for my safety. I moved anyway and now he is charging me for all rent through the 12th month of the lease and exorbitant prices for repairs and cleaning to the unit. This violates my legal rights. I should legally have no further financial obligation as I moved for my own safety.

I would like to add photos of a communication from this company to my complaint. This was his response to my inquiry as to why I was being charged more than $600 for painting. They removed one charge and said it was an error leaving me with $450 fee for painting a 700 square foot apartment.

      Business Response

Were sorry to hear that your experience at the home did not meet your expectations, and we understand how difficult it can be to relocate from out of town. We also take reports of both maintenance concerns and personal safety very seriously.

To clarify a few important points:

Youre correct that some preexisting conditions, including wear to the flooring were present when you moved in. These were noted prior to your occupancy, and we regret that repairs were not completed during your residency, although several other requested repairs were. You actually hadnt requested any repairs to your flooring, although you did note the condition during move in. The charges assessed at move-out were not related to those preexisting issues. They were for new damagessuch as wall repairs and excessive cleaningthat were documented after your departure and went beyond normal wear and tear.

With regard to your safety concerns, we fully support any resident taking steps to protect themselves. You notified us about the situation involving a person who, lives several blocks away and isnt a property we manage.  However, release from a lease isnt something you can just unilaterally select. We sent your request off to our legal counsel who advised that your situation did not substantiate terminating your lease.

We sincerely wish you the best and appreciate the chance to clarify the circumstances.  We remain committed to providing safe and respectful housing, while also ensuring that lease agreements and responsibilities are handled fairly for all parties involved.

I rented with this company and not only did they double charge me for a deposit but they lied and said I damaged the property so they took 500 dollars from my deposit. They are known to do this as I am not the only one who has had this issue with them.
