    I gave D and D Computing my laptop to transfer files to a new laptop. None of my files or software is in the new computer and none of my software is on the new computer either. Now D and D will not return my old laptop or harddrive. I want them back.

    This computer did have all the files transferred to it, but software programs cannot be copied from one Windows installation to another Windows installation and still function. It must be installed in the new computer using the installation/license/source information required.  That is information which I did not have, even if the customer had mentioned the software in the beginning. She did not mention moving software, just her personal data.  If she had I would have told them that is not possible, something I tell every customer which inquires about the process.  I got one message on my answering machine, and called to explain the problem with copying software, and that message was the first mention by her that "my programs" were "missing" from the new computer.  There was no answer, so I had to attempt to explain it in a message.

    I have not refused any request for the old computer or the old hard drive.
