    I was working with this contractor for an addition on my home I paid him $12000 to start for permits and planning.For planning he paid $1948.90 and for permits he paid $1116.25 We are no longer going threw with this, but he is not willing to return the rest of the money.

    hello i am responding to this complaint as the contractor.

    this client had originally hired me to build an addition to his home however, he did not have anything started as far as plans permits etc. so he asked if i can do all of that for him. he sighed the contracts in witch it states that he agreed to all fees including for my time for doing the work. I met with architect and developed plans did all the permits and site plans and septic witch i do have all records of and receipt. do to having unpermitted dweling  buildings on the property that he knew about and did not mention anything to me about it made things more complicated and take much longer . once we resoled those issues from his part we where getting close to starting on  the project. i turned turned down a project to be able to focus on his. all of a sudden once we where almost their he told me he found another contractor that will do it for cheaper  and to give him the remainder "please note contract was signed" in witch he had agreed on my pricing .

    total paid including my labor was $10,807.33

    i did an invoice for him for termination of contract fee of 10% of total addition cost =$8,100
