My electricity was not supposed to be turned off until April 22nd, if not pd by April 22nd. I paid my past due amount on April 22nd, of $295.03. I was charged a reconnect fee, but I pd my bill before the end of the business day, so my electricity should not have been turned off, nor should I have had to pay a reconnect fee. I was mad and told them I was going to just figure out how to turn it on myself because all they do is hit a button in the office to turn it back on. But it gets better, because I said I was going to try to figure it out myself, they removed my meter and charged me $225.00 for meter tampering, which I did not do. So not only did I have to pay the past due balance, reconnect fee, but also an absurd amount for something I didnt do. A supervisor made a note that I had to pay $586.12 in full to restore my power on top of the $295.03 that I already paid. I take care of 3 kids and work full time, and no child support from 2 of my kids dads. I havent had money to buy food, so I havent pd my electric bill, so now Im not buying food for my kids for the next couple months, and theyre just going to have to eat at school only, with no food at home. I now have an extra bill to pay because of this. The last time I was behind on my electric bill, I was working 3 jobs and donating plasma to pay off that bill. I shouldnt have to work over 40 hours a week and donate plasma to survive! In the last 4 months, Ive not been able to fill my prescriptions that I need because its $120.00-$150.00 a month for those. I want to be refunded the reconnect fee and the meter tampering fee because it is not right that I was charged this!

The disconnect date of April 22nd can occur anytime on the 22nd. No time is specified. Our automated system showed an issue with her meter after she threatened to reconnect her electricity prompting us to do a site visit. The site visit confirmed that the meter seal had been cut, and a meter bypass switch had been deployed supplying her with electricity. At that time a crew was called, and the meter was removed along with line coming to the house being disconnected to avoid her doing it again.

The fee for meter tampering is based on the time it takes to go to the site and physically disconnect the service. A meter technician was the first to respond due to the meter inconsistencies in our metering system. He then had to call in a two-man linecrew to do the disconnect. The $50 disconnect fee and the $50 reconnect fee are the standard fees charged to any member in this situation.

      Thanks
