Roofing job finished late fall 2020. I contacted Ellenbecker about leak in fall of 2022. I was told labor was only guaranteed for 12 months from the time of completion.I asked if he could send someone out to look at it , he said he would but would require payment day of estimate. We had this work done through rural housing loan as ***** is totally disabled with only 15% total lung capacity. I ******, *****s wife opened the ceiling up as there was black mold on the drywall and I needed to be able to route the water away from the electrical outlet that is located on the wall behind that green bowl that is catching the water. We have a steep roof and other companies did not want to bid it. A guy answered our ad on marketplace quoted $4000.00 but told us until he opened up the roof he didn't know what he would be dealing with. We are on social security and did not have the monies for repair. We have lived with this for the past couple of years controlling the leak. We had saved enough to have it looked at and repaired by a **** ********* last week. He said the skylight was a vertical skylight used horizontal and the chanel meant to shed the water was actually holding it in.He said it had been leaking from day one of instalation the first time it rained. We didn't see it until the insulation, the wood were saturated and it started to come through. The drywall on the wall also may have mold.***** has severe lung issues, on a home ventilator and 24/7 oxygen. Our son in law **** also reached out to ***** Ellenbecker about the situation and received the same rude its not my responsibility attitude that I got when I called him and sent him the pictures and video couple years ago. This has been a nightmare with no solution or help whatsoever from the company that caused the issue in the first place. The contractor ***** Ellenbecker was paid over $30.000 for the roof, gutters, eves etc. This should not have happened on a new roof. Our email is ************************

    Business Response

    Date: 06/06/2025

We are sorry for your husbands condition.  The work performed on your roof in 2020 was completed to manufacturer installation instructions and specifications.  SD Ellenbecker had offered to access any issues free of charge.  However, due to our signed agreement, this work would be outside of our warranty.  Any repairs would have to be billed on a time and material basis.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  The work referred to in the complaint was completed in late fall, much closer to the end than the beginning of 2020. If indeed, as SD Ellenbecker Inc.claims the "work preformed was completed to the manufactured installation, instructions and specifications" I want the skylights manufacturing company's name, the model, the place, price and date of purchase, manufacturers specification and other materials used in the installation of the skylight on our home. I will forward to that manufacturing company of ***************** and written explanation provided by the company who repaired the damage that was caused. If the extensive damage to the roof, interior wall and ceiling was not due to incompetent poor workmanship in the installation process preformed by sub contractors hired by SD Ellenbecker Inc. that would lead one to believe it was a faulty/defective skylight as it most certainly was not due to the age of the roof. I request SD Ellenbecker to be forth coming in supplying ALL the information from their records that has been requested above.
    Regards,

    ***** ****
