Reinhart was contracted to put an addition on our home. They estimated the job would take 40 days. They started work mid-September 2024 and the job is not completed as of mid-June 2025. They were contracted to do just the foundation and framing. This included 2 small decks at the front and back of the addition, and moving a large sliding glass door from it's existing location to a new location. They job took SIGNIFICANTLY longer than it was supposed to. Then in the final stages Reinhart simply stopped coming. The decks are still not finished. And we had to hire another company to move the sliding door so that we could move forward with next steps in the project. We estimate Reinhart owes us approximately $3,000 in refund for the work they did not complete. It cost us $2,000 to have the sliding door moved by another contractor. And we still need the decks completed. We have attempted to reach them by phone, email, and text with no response.

Reinhart had a contract for concrete and framing. The job was delayed due to a subcontractor, building inspector, and weather.  It states in the contract the work would be completed in 40 days assuming all conditions are satisfied. It also states at time lost by reason of changes by owner, acts of the owner, strikes, weather conditions, or any other condition not within contractors control shall be added time for completion. In the beginning of this project, after excavation work was done, due to delays (weather and added change orders) while excavation was going on. When forms were supposed to be delivered they were not available. The clients were informed of this immediately. They were also informed that this would cause delays and the contractor even came up with an alternative option for different forms that would be available immediately but the clients refused to go with that option and agreed per text message (if the choice is spending more money or waiting, we definitely want to wait). This caused a lengthy delay. When forms were set up and ready for inspection we also had a slight delay due to the building inspectors availability. Due to that delay, concrete was also delayed before it was poured. During the framing process, we had massive delays because of the weather during that time of year.
Per Reinharts contract, it states if the owner fails to pay the contractor within 7 days of the day the payment is due, through no fault of the contractor, the contractor may stop work and may keep the job idle until such time as payments that are due to the contractor are paid. A payment was due 12-23-24, the clients (husband) told the contractor that he would not make that payment. Due to this, the job was put idle per Reinharts contract if the contractor chooses not to stop work after payment delay, this is not to be construed as a waiver of his rights to stop work if future payments are delayed. After a delay, the client (wife) did give the contractor a payment but it was not for the amount due and she wrote a payment and subtracted it from the final payment that wasnt due yet. This did not replace the late payment that is still due to Reinhart.
In Reinharts contract, attached is the scope of work/job estimate, in the job estimate it doesnt state any door removal. It also states, not included, any work done in the existing house.  The doors that the client is referring to are installed in the existing house. Reinhart is not responsible for removal of the doors.
The client states that Reinhart has not finished the job. The only items that are not completed per the contract are the deck railing banisters. On one of the decks, the client (wife) asked the contractor to not install the railing due to wanting access to their hot tub. The deck is 24 or under so railings do not have to be installed. The other deck has railings but no spindles. The reason that the spindles were not installed was because they were not the correct length for the railing specified on the plans. Stated in Reinharts contract all materials supplied through a building supply store (name left out for privacy). This means Reinhart is not responsible for materials. In this situation, the materials were not correct which resulted in an added price to cut them or order and deliver the correct size. During this time the clients (husband) reached out to the contractor demanding $3000. Due to Reinhart still being owed money and the clients refusal to pay and verbally saying they are not paying once the railing banisters are finished. Reinhart did not return to site. At this time, Reinhart has completed more work then the amount that is due and currently the clients have an outstanding balance with Reinhart. Unfinished railing banisters and door installation are subtracted from the final total owed to Reinhart.

Attached job estimate that was attached to contract.
