I financed a 2012 jeep liberty from this place in July for 7k. Within four months the car is overheating and needs a new head gasket. After researching and calling a few shops for quotes. It has been quoted at 7k-8k for a repair. More than the car is worth. **** from Southside auto apologized and did not charge me for the diagnosis and troubleshooting the car. Because I financed this car I have to continue to make payments on a car that is not operable

****** ********** purchased the 2012 Jeep Liberty from us on 7-2-2024.  The vehicle was fully inspected before putting it up for sale.  Since she bought the vehicle she has put on over ***** miles.  She called us on Nov 6, 2024 and stated that the vehicle was overheating.  We told her to bring it in and that we would inspect it at no cost (because she bought it from us).  When we inspected it we noticed that the clamp on the lower radiator hose had failed and that all of the coolent had leaked out.  We replaced the clamp and filled the coolent back up (at no cost) and let it run to see if it would overheat.  It did.  At this point we replaced the thermostat (again at no cost).  It overheated again.  The damage to the head gasket was from ****** ********** running the vehicle empty on coolent, continuing to drive it, and overheating it.  We attempted to help her to the max of our abilities, but we are not an engine shop and do not replace head gaskets or engines.

We were not aware of any issues that ************* was having with the vehicle.  She never reached out to us to inform us of problems with the car.  As always, we are willing to look at the car after the sale.  We have always worked with customers with any issues they may be having.  If ************* would like we can check out the car, for no charge, to see what is wrong.  We are open M-F 9a to 5p.  Have customer call to make an appointment.  ************.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Once Again You Guys Never Stated That The Car Was Sold As Is. You Guys Sold Me A Car With The Engine Zip Tied Together. I Did Bring The Car Back To South Side Auto Mart For Them To Fix The Problem That I Complained About And Yall Still Gave It Back To Me With The Same Problem. You Guys Never Fixed It.. I Never Once Told ****** That The Check Engine Light Was On. I Clearly Stated That The Car Was Jerking. South Side Auto Mart Yet Still Refuse To Fix The Problem. The Car Would Not Make It Back Over To The Car Lot. They Told Me To Pay For A Tow Truck. Why Should I Pay For A Tow Truck When I Spent ***** On A Car That Should Have Minor Issues Instead Of Major Issues. The Least You Could If Did Was Help With A Tow Truck. I Dont Have That Kind Of Money To Just Keep Paying Out Of Pocket For A Car That Should Be At Least Get Me Around Until I Can Purchase A Newer Car. I Have A Job And I Also Have Kids. I Wasnt Expecting This But I Refuse The Offer If I Have To Pay For A Tow Truck. No Its Either You Give Me My Money Back Or Come Get The Car And Give Me Another Car.

    Regards

    ****************************

Want Is My Money Back. I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER CAR FROM THEM. The Owner Even Hung Up On Me As I Was Trying To Resolve The Issue. They Have Not Tried To Resolve The Issue With Me. Theyre Basically Saying They Took My Money And Theres Nothing I Can Do About It. My Account Number Is *********. Also Too They Didnt Say Anything About The Car Being Sold As Is Or Anything. No Where On This Paper Says As Is.

    Hello,

We sold **************************** a **** ********** Jetta on October 6, 2022.  It was sold AS-IS.  She called the next day saying that the check engine light was on.  We set up a time that day to have her come down to get the issue taken care of.  Which we did at no cost to her.  She came and picked it up.  The next day she called upset and said she wanted her money back.  She said that the transmission was bad.  Again, we told her to bring it down to us, we would check it over and fix it if there was a problem.  She refused to bring the car back and stated she only wanted her money back.  We told her it was sold AS-IS but would be glad to help her out if there was a problem.  She became very loud and upset and said she didn't have time to bring it down.  Our offer still stands if she would like us to take a look at it.
