I went for an estimate to replace back brake pads. They gave me a figure for front and back, pads and rotors. I was told "there is only 10% left on your pads and the rotors cannot be salvaged - front and back - there was another percentage for the either the front of the back that was low too). I trusted the assessment and made an appointment for repairs. Then I was advised by someone who had issues there to get a second opinion so I did. The estimate at another shop came in 700 dollars less and they told me that the front brake pads and rotors were good - only 25% used so far and did not recommend replacement yet. I admit I was rather shocked. I understand shops set their own rates, and set their own hourly labor rates and employee salaries, staff shortages can be brutal and parts can vary in cost based on demand and inflation. I get all of that but to explain damage that doesn't exist is fraud. I obviously cancelled my appointment - then I found yet another person who had a similar experience. This is just a warning to others. I am disappointed in being treated that way but also relieved that I found out in time.

When customer came in we inspected the brakes and we recommended rear brakes soon due to having 1mm in brake pads left. You can see the attachment with an example brake pads showing at when the pads are 2mm or less they need immediate attention. When we install brakes we always do the pads and the rotors together so you won't have issues with squeeky or noisy brakes. Also when doing both it avoids brake pulsating and proper braking and longer wear life. The front brakes were at 4mm brake pad so as far as needing replacement they didn't need immediate attention but we recommended getting them done while the rears are being done but not necessary. Were sorry to hear if there was a miscommunication on what needed to be done but as far as price we quoted $449.99 for front brakes (pads, rotors, and labor plus tax) and quoted $429.99 for rear brakes (pads, rotors, and labor plus tax) These prices are very competitive with all auto repair shops and even much less than the dealer. You could call shops and find that out very easily. Not sure what kind of brake job was being done for $180.00 but it was probably just brake pads (just on the rear)which is not recommended to do but looks like a shop possibly did do that, but it is not the correct way. We have been in business for 51 years and we care about every customer and there experience. Sorry that you feel this way!
