    I have used Preferred Marine for boat winterization and storage for the past 3-4 years. This past winter (2021-2022) I paid them to change all the oil and winterize the boat and I also paid for indoor storage. The total cost was around $1000.00. I picked my boat up in June of 2022 and noticed that there was a milky substance dripping from the lower unit. This turned into oil after about a day. I asked them about it and they said they didnt work on ****************** so I called another boat mechanic. After I took the boat in to the Cassanovas Marine Services in ********* I was told that the oil was never changed and it wasnt properly winterized which caused water to freeze in the lower unit and crack the bullet which caused the oil leak. ********* took notes and photos to document the damage and cause. They had to replace the bullet and part of the lower unit which cost $1650.00. The evidence in the pictures showed that there was fishing line wrapped around the prop which caused the rubber seal to break and water to get in. You have to remove the prop to change the oil so it shows that Preferred Marine next changed the oild and check for water. I am in the middle of sending on forms for small claims but a friend told me to file with the BBB first. Thank you.
