I hired Dan the Moving Man to move me to my new house. Never again! There's a major lack of communication between the staff! Ended up we had to get a second truck, so I took a guy to uhaul to pick up another truck, it would have cost me ***** for 2 days plus 69 cents per mile and they charged me $650.00 bucks! They charged me more per hour than what I received in an email conformation. They inflated the hours that they were actually there. Also the loading of the trucks went great but the unloading was a drop and run. All the boxes and bins and boxes were clearly marked on where they are to go, yet there were 26 boxes that were supposed to be in the house left out in the garage and 3 boxes that were marked garage were in the house and when I called to complain all I got were lame excuses. The owner is very disrespectful and unprofessional. I got a text asking how it went, so I told him and he never responded back. This company is a total rip off. Be very careful if you decide to use them!!! I also have many text messages available.

Tell us why here...Dear *************** am writing to formally respond to the complaint filed against my business, Dan the Moving Man, regarding the service we provided to **** ******** on August 27 2024, under reference number Complaint ID: ********
I would like to provide clarification concerning the events that led to the customers dissatisfaction, as I believe there are important facts that have not been fully addressed in the original complaint.
The customers claim centers around being charged for additional time spent locating her residence and for the cost of renting an extra U-Haul truck. However, these charges were the direct result of factors beyond our control:
      1. **Finding the Customers Location**: Our team spent approximately 45 minutes locating the customers residence on the day of the move. This delay was caused by unclear directions or the complexity of finding her address. It is important to note that our team made every effort to ensure timely service, but additional time had to be factored in due to this issue, which ultimately affected the overall duration of the move.
      2. **Additional Truck Rental**: On the day before the move, we called the customer to confirm her inventory and asked if she would like us to bring a second truck to accommodate her belongings. The customer declined, assuring us that a single truck would suffice. However, upon arrival, it became clear that her inventory was significantly larger than what she had initially disclosed. As a result, we had no choice but to rent an additional U-Haul truck to complete the move in a timely manner, which incurred extra costs.
Given these circumstances, the additional time and cost were necessary to ensure that the move was completed as efficiently as possible. We always strive to provide transparent pricing and effective communication with our customers, and in this case, we acted in good faith to manage the move based on the information provided to us by the customer.
Attached is correspondence through text regarding dealing with this matter.
We respectfully request that the BBB review the full context of this situation and dismiss this claim, as we believe the charges were justified based on the actual services rendered and the customers inventory changes.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to contact me if further clarification is needed.

Dear Ms. ********* We appreciate the opportunity to clarify details regarding your recent move with Dan the Moving Man.
      Additional Truck Requirement:
The day before your move, we confirmed with you that one truck would be sufficient. Upon arrival, however, the actual volume of items exceeded initial estimates, requiring a second truck to complete the move in one trip. The associated $682.50 charge reflects rental fees, mileage, fuel, and additional time required for pickup, loading, unloading, and return of the additional truck.
      Updated Final Cost:
The recording of our original call clearly stated that you'd be looking at a final cost of up to $4,700. This was based on the inventory you provided and standard loading times. The final total of $5,382.50 accounts for the additional truck and extended loading time needed due to the larger inventory, ensuring completion within the scheduled timeframe.
      Sincerely,
      Dan the Moving Man

When I contacted them, they quoted me at around $700, which I told them was higher than what I wanted to pay, so I was going to look around. He asked me what I wanted to pay, and I told him $500 - he said they would do everything possible to keep it at that price. He even told me that if I moved a lot of my boxes it would definitely come in at $500. So, I moved all of my boxes myself. On 10/12/22 when they came, it was only furniture left.During the move, they put my dining room table on the truck standing upright with no support under it, and boxes on top. The leg of the table broke during shifting in the truck and sheared off, cannot be repaired. So the table is now garbage. Also, the 60" ** now has a large ding in the front of the stand part of it, and the ** stand is scratched. They noticed the table damage during the move, and took pictures and called it in. I discovered the ** & stand damage after they left.I was made an offer of $0.60/lb for the damage to my table, and told that since my ** wasn't boxed they could give me nothing for it. They also ended up charging me $740 for the move. So, at the end of the day they broke my table, damaged my **, and came nowhere near the price that they assured me over the phone they would be able to give me for the move. I would have gotten another quote had they not assured me of that. They sent me a check for $125. So at the end of the day i'm without a table, and have a damaged **, and was overcharged for the move by $240 more than they said. They said the money was for the $0.60/lb for the table, that the ** damage was not covered per their policy, and that I should use wood paint to "fix" the scratch on the ** stand. They keep quoting their policy, but their policy is ridiculous, and the service has been terrible. I feel that I am due more than $125 for this whole situation.

      Hi BBB,

In our email confirmation, we state that we provide 60 cents per pound of anything covered which we paid $125 for the table. Then she told us about the small scratch on the ** stand. I told her we would offer her an additional ****** for the ** stand and dent in the ** even though in our email we state we don't provide coverage on **S that aren't boxed up. She said it wasn't boxed up. She wanted a check back for $300. So after reviewing the damage (which she should be liable for the **) and us going over quote we will send her another $175 so she gets the refund of $300 she wanted.

      Thank you
