We suffered a garage loss during the winter and contacted Northland Builders to replace it as weve had a longstanding prior business relationship with no issues. We paid the money down and signed a contract on April 18, 2023, for a 26 x 27 x **************************************************** the early summer and the building materials were delivered the beginning of July along with the placement of advertising signs marking the route to our house. As of September 20, 2023, the materials are still sitting in the driveway in the elements and all of our attempts to get Northland to actually show up and begin construction on this building have failed. They have made repeated promises to show up and never do, providing flimsy excuses about why they are so delayed. We have contacted the owner and he frankly didnt care about our prior business relationship (which was hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of business), nor did he care we have a boat and other materials that will need immediate storage soon. We need this garage built immediately and our pleas to get this done have fallen on deaf ears. Its very frustrating as we expedited the removal of our old garage and prep work for the site since they indicated it would be completed during the summer. The materials are sitting in the driveway obstructing complete use of such and exposed to wind, rain and other outdoor factors. We ask the BBB step in to get this company to comply with our signed contract immediately.

Both the local ************ Manager, and the *** of Northland Buildings talked to this customer last week.  We scheduled the crew to be there Wednesday, depending on the weather, since heavy rains have been forecasted.  The customer was irate when we could not guarantee an exact day.  The manager has been in contact and will update him as to when the crew will start his building.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I understand that there have been rain the past few days but this is no excuse for the prior dates scheduled that go all the way back to June.  I have six dates in my calendar they were supposed to show and weather was not a factor for cancellation of any of these dates.  I have been told crews have taken vacation so they couldn't show along with other excuses.  The lines of communication have been pathetic as I have had to call each time to find out why they never showed.  My phone calls are rarely returned. Each time they assured me they were showing up I had to make arrangements with the tenants residing there to move vehicles and plan for disruption only to have no one from Northland show up. My tenants are very unhappy about this inconvenience.  I am very frustrated because due to this garage not being built, I have been pushed to the end of the wait list at ******* Electric to get the wiring done.  This is unacceptable.

The contract was sold in April,2023. His building was scheduled for August.  We had some crew issues because of illness, vacations, and equipment breakdowns. We were in contact with the customer throughout this time.  Recent heavy rains have in fact delayed the crews even more, but the customer was told that he is the next building on the list to build. The crew will be reaching out in the coming days to set up a meeting to start the project.
