We got a campsite for 6 people to stay at this campground. It was pouring outside and the sites were flooded. Long story short a manager on a golf cart pulled up when we were unloading not even there for an hour [we paid for 4 days of camping] he started to belligerently yell at us about some stuff and got confrontational. He drove off and muttered stuff about taking care of us and what not. I went to complain to the owner and request my money back and they refused to give me one ***** back. This was harassment and intimidation tactics. We packed up and left because we were afraid it would get physical. Its a shame it has come to this . Any help would be appreciated.I have two witnesses to verify.

    Business Response

Hi, the manager spoke with the group of young adults and was understanding of the weather. We offered a full credit to another stay this year, plus a refund of any item purchased during their stay such as firewood per their request. Our office remained open until midnight that evening incase anyone needed assistance during the storm and no firewood or customer returned before leaving for refund or credit. No request for damages was made by the campground and the 3-night minimum for the holiday was required per website and agreement signed online during the booking process. The site was not flooded, as there is a creek behind the site for good drainage and the photo attached was taken at the time the manager was called. We had other sites available if this was the case, but there was no mention of an issue with the site, only in regards to being confronted about the parking. All lower wet sites were blocked from any bookings prior to the holiday weekend in preparation for the weather.

Prior to the group arriving at their campsite, our parking rules are provided prior to completing the booking process online, as well as at check in verbally, on the registration form signed in person, on our map, and on 2-3 signs heading towards their site. A group of young adults were informed in person again at their campsite of the proper parking procedures and were notified of the damage they had caused. The staff member left the site and notified the manager of the damaged caused and the groups response of "it's mother nature's fault". The 3 men met the manager at the office to discuss how to proceed, and departed the campsite later that evening.

Our office staff informed us that they were very uncomfortable with the 3 men in the office and the manager was asked by the group of men where the staff member's campsites were and their personal information. They seemed very angry and threatening, we were not aware until their review left that they felt things were going to get physical. We only enforce our policies agreed at check-in, and if anything was to escalate the local police would be contacted prior. Considering that the group hasn't reached out about the initial options available and the information provided by the staff after the initial conversation with the group, we feel that it would be best that the group not return to the campground.

The name in this complaint is not on any documentation, they are not the main camper but we believe were in the group. ******************************* was the site holder had paid 3 nights of camping as required, not 4. We have included the in person registration form, screen shots of the website booking policy she signed. Let us know if you need any additional information. They were allowed one vehicle at the site and the other 2 were requested to be parked in the parking area. All three were parked on the site and had caused some damage to the campsite. Photos are attached.
