      HVAC specialist was called. He advised there was no charge for the estimate. Verbal estimate was given of approximately $100. Verbal agreement was given to the specialist to conduct the work, provided cost was on or about the verbally quoted amount of $100. HVAC specialist completed work with no further communication. HVAC specialist sent invoice in an amount exceeding $400. Invoice does not itemize reason for additional fees and no permission was given to HVAC specialist to perform any work beyond the verbally quoted amount of approximately $100.

      There were two items that were replaced in order to get the cooling operating. The transformer for the air handler and the contactor for the condensing unit. However the parts were not found to be bad at the same time. The transformer was replaced first, which lead to the discovery of the contactor being bad. The initial $100 estimate was for the transformer which I should of had on my truck, but did not, so I did not add travel time to the cost of that repair. The contactor, which was discovered after the transformer was installed, did have to be picked up because of the style. For this I did charge travel time along with the time to install it. The total for the parts and labor amounted to $424.05

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

      The contractor never said a word about any increase in any pricing. Had he made any mention of any pricing adjustments we would not have replaced the part and just went ahead with setting up a new system which is what we have to do now anyways. We were told the price would be the hundred dollars and not another word until the invoice came to us way. He had permission to do the work at the price disclosed to us but no permission to do the work at the pricing we were billed for. 

      In his message he even admitted to saying a price was given and did not tell us that the pricing would be increased. He just did it and sent a bill that we would never have agreed to in the first place at that pricing.
