      My tax preparer that I've been using since I moved to ******* in 2016 (Wegner CPA in *******) allowed a breach of their computer system that cause problems for several of its customers. The breach caused me, as a client of Wegner, to spend considerable time and energy to address the impact of the breach for my two dependent sons, my ex-wife and myself. Wegner has submitted a bill for payment for preparing my tax returns. I approached Wegner to discount the prep payment because of the impact their data breach had on my life. They refused to discount their bill. I have considered invoicing them for the time i put into addressing their data breach error. Can I invoice them and expect payment? Is it best business practice to cause difficulties for customers and not acknowledge the impact caused by a business errors? If I refuse to pay their bill until they honor my invoice, or subtract the portion that I am invoicing them for my time correcting their error from their original bill, is this allowable legally? I'm just trying to get a bit of fairness for the harm caused by Wegner CPAs. They just sent a reminder to pay their invoice and if I have to pay the total amount legally without consideration for the harm they caused, I will need to know that so that I am not further impacted financially. Needless to say, I won't be using Wegner CPAs for future services, and please consider this a formal complaint of their services. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
