    My builder uses an allowance method for the finishing trades, so I have a set amount to spend per product type and can pick the vendor. I am responsible for paying overages. For countertops, I am actually paying for them directly to offset other finishing area overages. This means I'm writing the check and/or using my credit to pay them directly.Granite Shop of Madison refused to share pricing with me and refused to answer pricing questions. I asked for the cost of a leather finish on an island. They refused to answer me. The builder's project manager was on vacation and when she returned 5 days later, the answer to my question was buried deep in a very "busy" bid sheet. That's the way every question was answered.When I respectfully expressed frustration with not being told what I had to pay, I was accused of being dramatic and aggressive. They told my builder they'd "love to work" with me, but then in reply to reviews claim they told me we wouldn't be a good fit.I've built 4 houses and worked with a ton of wonderful skilled finishing trade vendors in Madison. Granite Shop of Madison is not one of them. He knew his customer service rep made a mistake and instead of apologizing, he clung to refusing to share pricing with me. Just because you use a bunch of pleasant words doesn't change that what you are doing incredible rude.This guy has odd flexes. I would stay away unless you get caught up in one of his power plays.
