I interviewed remotely with the owner of this business, *************************, on Monday, April 24. During that interview ***** and I agreed to have me fly out to **** to meet her in person and discuss the Chief ********************** with her company. Before the call ended, ***** asked her recruiter *********************** to coordinate the details of travel with me. Later on the evening of April 24, I sent **** an email with travel options and costs related to travel to D.C. in May. Lastly, I explicitly asked via email, "I also would gladly welcome hotel suggestions, and lastly, whether she/you want me to book and submit expenses for reimbursement, or if she has a credit card to use? Flexible either way." **** responded the next day on April 25, stating, "we are good to go." I then proceeded to book travel for an onsite visit, flying out on May 31 and back home on June 2. After the trip concluded, I emailed and texted *****, asking how she wanted me to submit my receipts. No preference was ever stated, thus I offered to send her scanned receipts along with an invoice from my operations consulting business to provide multiple ways to pay - i.e. Credit card, electronic transfer, etc. After approximately a month of multiple attempts to connect and numerous emails and texts ignored, ***** finally responded. She claimed they were never approved, which is unsubstantiated given the email confirmation I have, the text exchanges made, and the information provided to both her and ******************* to ever booking. Lastly, I also have texts and emails of her agreeing to reimburse me the full amount of travel expenses. She claimed this would be done after "budget" is released in September. I responded that I agreed to that timing and expected payment on September 1, for which she replied "deal." It is now September 11, 10 days past the "deal" date and over 100 days past since the original expenses were incurred. This is a deceitful and uncommon business practice on her part.
