We had been using weed man for several months and paid several hundred dollars to them. Our lawn never looked worse. We cancelled our service after the recommendation of one of the employees. They came two more times and now have sent us to collections saying only one of our services was cancelled. The office was disrespectful, basically calling us liars. Two thing, we cancelled and even so, they were supposed to call before coming. Which they never did! We should not have to pay for their poor business practices.Business Response

Hi *****, per our records, you requested to cancel your landscape bed program, not your lawn care program. Your account reflects this, and the Branch Manager recalls this as well. The landscape bed program was cancelled on 8/3, while the lawn care program continued as you did not request to cancel it. You were invoiced for the applications that were then provided as part of the lawn care program. We reached out on multiple occasions to discuss the outstanding balance with you, and even offered to write off half of the amount if you paid for the rest of the amount due as a show of good faith. After an extended period of nonpayment months after the amount was initially due, we had no choice but to send the amount to collections. Because the lawn care program was not cancelled & the applications were provided as agreed upon, with no record of a request to cancel, and with multiple opportunities being offered to work with us on caring for the balance, we won't offer to write off this amount. We've included the dates of these attempts to rectify the situation below:
On 9/16, we called about the balance. ***** reported that her card was stolen and she would call us right back to make the payments. We did not receive a call back.
On 11/18, we called about the balance and were hung up on once we said we were from Weed Man.
On 12/14, we called and spoke with ***** and she said she would have ***** call us back.
On 1/19, we called ***** and she told us she won't pay as she cancelled services. We explained that she cancelled the landscape bed program, not the lawn care, and that we spoke to ***** during the 8/5 application and nothing was mentioned about cancelling it. We were hung up on.
On 1/24, we called and spoke to *****, and explained why she was being billed for the lawn care once again. We mentioned the emails we sent about the past due amounts, which we could see had been opened. We offered to write off 1 application if payment was sent for the other application, which ***** agreed to. We tried to contact again multiple times over the following weeks, but no one would answer. We left voicemails and also sent a text.
On 2/15, after still not receiving their half of the agreed payment, the amount was sent to collections for the full balance.
Due to this situation, we cannot offer to write off the amount.

I engaged Weed Man to re-seed and aerate my front lawn in September of last year having been referred by my neighbor.. On the advice of their field adviser, *****, I had $450 of tree work done to enhance post seeding growth. On September 19th I paid WM $224 for a two-step re-seeding. They duly carried out the first phase but in spite of my voiced reservations, they used a heavy, ride-on machine which tore up both the sub-netting (this lawn is only two years old) and cut deep wheel ruts in the underlying soil. They put no straw or soil covering over the freshly seeded area; .apparently they said straw contained some form of seed itself and they didnt believe in it, hence, they area was simply exposed which is unusual. I contacted them later in Fall prior to second seeding and *************** came out, opined that the application was less than desirable and they went ahead. Neither seeding took, and the yard looked simply awful. I contacted again, ***** came out again and recommended a third seeding, but would still not cover with soil or straw.you can do it if you want, but we dont believe in it.I was then contacted in earlyJanuary (5th I believe) to organize a fertilization, I was adamant that no treatments should be made until the lawn debacle was resolvedthey came and did it anyway and tried to charge me for dispersing on essentially mud; their phone service person was abjectly unhelpful. In short, I would like to speak to the owners of this business (their staff refuse to allow me so to do) and discuss redress for this disaster. The lawn needs significant remedial work at significant cost. I feel this matter can be resolved without further escalation.Business Response

The company has been sending their employees to spray my lawn even though I did not give permission or sign any contract with them. I asked multiple times to their employees that I have not given permission to spray my lawn with chemicals and I do not need any weed killer on my lawn. They wound send their employees in wee hours to spray.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out. Per your account, you signed up for services with us early in 2022 and were aware of our program & services. We do have record of you speaking with us regarding your services and requesting a reapplication in June/July, so you were aware of the services being provided. We also provide pre-notifications which you would have received before each application. We see that you received multiple applications with us throughout the year before requesting to cancel services on 10/28/22. At this point, we cancelled your services per your request and did not come back out. However, there is still a balance due for applications that were provided prior to cancellation of services. Due to nonpayment we had no choice but to send this past due amount to collections as of 12/7/22. Because you signed up for services, were aware of our program, and did not request to cancel your services until 10/28/22, we can not write off the past due balance for applications rendered prior to the date of cancellation. Please consider reaching out to us via phone to care for this balance. Thank you & have a great rest of your week.Initial Complaint

I signed up w/ Weed Man in April 2022 for a first time customer service package after speaking to someone on the phone. Services would be done sporadically throughout spring/summer. I also signed up for additional grub prevention service after speaking to someone on the phone. Weed Man was not good in keeping appointments, I would get emails saying someone would be out to service lawn and no one showed up. I would later receive an email apologizing and saying they needed to reschedule but then they would just show up on another random day. During the end of summer (in August) a Weed Man representative came to our house asking if we were interested in purchasing additional lawn service. On the day he came I was working from home and on a business call and could not go to the door. My husband told the man that we may be interested but that he would need to speak to his wife (me). Weed Man said ok and left. Then they show up to treat our lawn. I assumed they were treating it for the services we've already been paying them for, not something new. I never saw a contract or a price list, nothing was explained. I never agreed to or signed up for any new service. Now they say they will send me to collections if I don't pay a bill for services I never agreed too. Very dishonest way of doing business. Just showing up and not going over pricing, services or a contract. I never agreed to any new service, never signed any contract or verbally agreed to a new contract for services, therefore, I will not pay a bill for this service. As I read other reviews I see this is typical behavior from this company.Business Response

*******************, according to our records, this additional service that you claim was provided and billed without your knowledge or consent was actually agreed to by your husband / significant other after it was offered by the Technician. We do provide e-mail confirmations as well as "text ahead" notifications regarding upcoming services. We see that your text ahead notice regarding this service was provided on 8/23 with notice that the service was to be completed the following day. We then had to reschedule this service, so another notice was sent communicating the new service date of 8/29. We also spoke with you at the door on the day of said service. Because the service was agreed to, understood, communicated on multiple occasions, and ultimately completed successfully, we unfortunately cannot offer to write off the amount. We do not provide services at random without homeowner's consent. If you would like to speak with us on this matter further please consider reaching out via phone or e-mail. Thank you & Happy Holidays!Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear. My husband never agreed to any additional services. Your tech is not being truthful.
sorry to bother you with another email regarding my claim, I really feel that I should've explained more and hit my reply too soon.
I never would have agreed to a service where pricing was not explained to me. We don't have disposable income and the reason I agreed to the first two services was because they were reasonably priced. For those services I spoke to someone over the phone and everything was explained to me. This time none of that happened. I feel like this company is being very sneaky with an existing customer and adding additional expensive services. Why was I not called for this service like I was in the past - someone just shows up.Also, this may be too much information but I take care of the bills/money in our family, my husband would never have agreed to this new service without my consent - he knows better.

I called in Fall 2021 to cancel my service with Weed Man. The results were average at best and we no longer wanted to use the service. Come Spring 2022, they arrived and started spraying my yard. I didn't notice this until the tech was finishing up. I told them I had canceled the service. He said he was unaware of and cancellation so I informed him again that these services were no longer requested and that we want to be cancelled. Long story short, they showed up again (and maybe a third time, not sure?) after I had told them twice I wanted to be cancelled. The customer service rep said whomever took my call in the Fall wrote down I only wanted to cancel the remainder of the season. He also is claiming because I opened an invoice, which basically means I clicked some email, that I was ok with the services. Per their argument I am responsible for opening an email and they are not responsible for me telling them twice I cancelled. Trying to amicably find a resolution, I offered to pay half of the $344.77 that I currently owe for two services I did not request. The customer service person I spoke with said his supervisor would not approve that. At this point I will not be paying anything, since I tried two different times to cancel service. I am reading some other complaints that others have the same issue with this location in *********, **. I have a very good credit score of over 800 and I will be filing in Small Claims if this is not taken care of immediately, or if my credit is damaged in any way due to their negligence.Business Response

I paid for a year of there service and was not happy with the results. I cancelled them last fall and they came out this spring after sending me a text an hour before they arrived. They said I didn't cancel and they were an auto renewal company. I paid for 1 year of treatment up front. They continually tried to sell me more during the year and add additional services. I never requested them to come back and feel I should not have to pay them for a service I did not request.Business Response

Hi *****, we reviewed your account and have no correspondence or call recordings in which you requested cancellation of services last Fall. The only correspondence we have for cancellation was from earlier this year in the Spring after applications had already been provided on your lawn. We do operate as a continuous service (which is industry standard), meaning that we will continue to provide agreed upon services to a customer until they have cancelled said service. Prepayment for a set amount of applications is just that, prepayment. Automatic cancellation of the customer account or services does not occur just because a prepaid amount has been reached, as many of our customers choose to pay by application. Cancellation of services is still required to ensure further services are not rendered. While we regret to hear that you were confused about this, we do make sure to communicate the continuous nature of our services multiple times to new and existing customers. The auto-renewal of services from each season to the next is communicated on the initial sign-up call, and we also send reminders that the next season of services will begin soon at the beginning of the year. We verified that this auto-renewal reminder information was sent to you via e-mail earlier this year prior to 2022 services beginning, however it appears that you did not open it according to our records. Unfortunately, because renewal information is provided multiple times, and because cancellation was not requested before 2022 services had been rendered, we cannot write off the amounts for the services rendered this year, as they were provided in accordance with our business/customer agreement for continuous services.
