I would never never want to hire this firm again. I am so frustrated.. I had medical problems last year where I had an unexpected hip replacement that was $10,000 out-of-pocket and lost Vision in one of my eyes.. I financially got in a bad spot and inquired about a chapter 128. I was back-and-forth on what I wanted to do and I paid $500. Ive literally emailed and called about getting a refund because I decided not to go with the lawyer. Due to financial reasons. I cannot afford to pay another $2000. Ive been asking for my refund back and I keep getting the runaround abouthow I need to talk to the manager than somebody above the manager and then I need to speak to the lawyer in regards to this And basically cant get my refund until I talk with the lawyer as his firm .. I am clearly having a difficult enough time financially and because I decided that paying $2000 more for a lawyer was not in my best interest.Ive literally been begging to get my money back and the last email I wrote I never got a response.. I am told that I can only get 250 back after I talk to the lawyer at his firm. I dont need to talk to the to try and get persuaded into spending $2000 that I dont have.. I think this is a horrible business practice. Ive had a horrible last year with unexpected medical problems and this is the last thing I deal with just give me my money back. Thats all I ask.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
While our standard process requires a conversation with Attorney ***** Miller, Owner of Miller and Miller Law Firm, prior to initiating any refund when a fee agreement is in place, we are stepping out of that process in this instance and will begin processing the $250 refund.
Our office initially reached out to ***** on May 20, 2025, to schedule a phone call with Attorney Miller. Additionally, today, June 19, 2025, Attorney Miller personally called and left her a voicemail requesting a return call.
We still respectfully ask that ***** speak with Attorney Miller. This conversation is an important part of our process to ensure clarity, address any concerns directly, and maintain transparency in how we serve our clients.
We look forward to resolving this matter professionally and appreciate the opportunity to do so.

      Sincerely,
      ***** *******

I was suppose to have two sechduled meetings with my attorney and she never called, and two meetings with managers to get refunds and was never called for those phone meetings either. It shouldn't be this hard to get a refund when nothing was filed, and no work or communication was ever done on miller and millers behalf. This is the most unorganized and most unprofessional law firm I've ever worked with, just give me my money back!

      Hi,
****** was previously frustrated with the progress of her case and felt that we had not been as responsive to her needs as she expected. There was also some confusion on her part regarding our process and how the Chapter 128 Debt Negotiation Program works.
Over the past few weeks, weve worked closely with her to clarify the process and ensure her concerns were addressed. Her Chapter 128 has now been filed, and she has expressed satisfaction with our representation.
At this time, I dont believe there are any ongoing issues. However, if you speak with ****** and she raises any new concernsor if you have any questionsplease dont hesitate to contact me directly at *************************************************************************** or ************.
      Best regards,
      ***** Miller

On January 21st I connected with someone at Miller and Miller Law about filing bankruptcy. I was immediately connected with someone who looked at my credit report and offered me to options. We discussed a means test to verify if I would qualify for chapter 7. It was $500, I paid half during that call and the other a few days later. On the 21st I received a "Welcome Email" to which I replied ( same day) 3 times and never received a response. On 1/29/25, I was sent link to docusign the means test. I replied to this email as well, that I no longer wanted to go with chapter 7 after looking into it more and wanted to discuss chapter 13. No response to this email. There were a few calenderly links sent in February to which I did not see ( until looking back in my emails for communication). Additionally, February and March I was very ill and had 3 surgeries and 2 hospital stays and could have missed them. I responsed on 2/19 again, stating I did not want to do means tests. 2/19 **** R responsed that he would have ******** reach out. Several other emails sent my me between 2/19-2/27 that were not responsed to. March 28th, I reach out to **** again, no response. 4/1 email ****- he opens email but does not respond. Email 4/6 to **** and again no response. Sent inquiry through website, no response. Again, I am mindful that due to my illness for nearly 8 weeks, I may have missed a few emails or calls. But there are more emails NOT responded too than one should expect from a business

I paid Miller And Miller $950 for an immigration case. I decided not to go ahead with the process and contact Miller And Miller to return the funds. They told me that they would return the funds within 48 hours and I have been getting the runaround every time I have attempted to call them.

      Good afternoon,

We apologize for the confusion. Our office only processes refunds by check twice per month. We can refund directly back to a card, if that was the original payment method within 48 hours. Unfortunately, Ms. ****** informed our office that the cards she used to pay our office were no longer active. At that time, she requested a check. Our error was in not letting her know of the timeline that checks would next be processed. On November 8th, Ms. ****** came to our office and picked up her refund check.

It is our understanding that ************** had already filed a dispute with his bank to return his funds before filing this complaint but was also requesting a direct refund. We have tried reaching out to ************** by phone on 8/22, and 8/27, and by text on 8/28, and 8/29 to clarify the situation but have yet to hear back. In July of 2023 I reached out to Miller and Miller about a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I paid $600 down and $300 every other week.In November 2023 my girlfriend informed me that she wanted to move.We called several places and none would accept a bankruptcy. I decided to sever relations with Miller and Miller in November. I was told i had to speak with ************ spoke with him on or around November 17th. He then said I had to speak with a lawyer. I told him I do not get a break from work till 2:05 pm, well Attorney ****** called at 1:57 pm well before my break. It is now December 18th and I have not heard anything. I have since called and left messages about a partial refund. They never returned my calls they can say what they want I have paid $2100 and they did not file all I wanted was an explanation of when i could expect a partial refund. They have not sent any letter in the mail, no phone call,. not even an e-mail

Our apologies for the delay. The person responsible for processing these requests is no longer with our firm; and their replacement has just finished training and is getting through these requests this week and next. We will close out the file in our systems, and issue the applicable refund directly to the client before the end of the month.

Over 2 years ago I hired them to file chapter 7 for me. They have not done anything like contacting my creditors for me instead has left me to fend for myself. A great example would be instead of having me sit down with a lawyer and do the process they have this online system which does not work is very frustrating and ** told them many times I cant do this system. I did not hired them to have me do the work but for them to handle this. *** asks for a refund and was refused because they state they have done work on my file . They have done nothing I have not even spoken to an attorney in over a year. I just want **** back they can keep the remaining for whatever so I can do this on my own

************** hired our firm in March 2023, not over 2 years ago. When he hired our firm, he asked if he could put his fees into a payment plan, which we agreed to. He  had not paid enough money to file his case until August 2023. However, since March, our office has worked with ************** in order to get his documents in order so we can file his case. As of today, we are still waiting on documents we had requested back in October to get his case filed. Our office has attempted to reach out to ************** several times for the information needed to file his case. If ************** wishes to cancel services, all we ask is that he respond to the communication sent to him and we will close out his file.

We went to Miller and Miller to assist in filing a chapter 13 bankruptcy. Right from the first time we met the legal assistant she was sloppy and inept. She could not answer any of our questions and would not connect us with someone who would. Then she scheduled time for us to speak to a paralegal which was the next step in the process, but she would schedule and then cancel. She did not even let us know she canceled. I called and explained that she needed to be more cognizant of the fact that we have jobs and need to take off for these meetings to which she responded its not their fault and this is the way it is. When we finally got the appointment with the paralegal which was extremely inconvenient time wise, she asked a laundry list of questions and still could not answer any of my questions or relieve any of my fears or concerns. After this call I thought about it for a few days and decided this is not the company I should be trusting my business with. So I called and stopped the bankruptcy to which I got phone calls wondering why and when explained to them they acted as if they did not care. So then I am calling to see about my refund of the filing fee I paid and now anyone that answers needs to send me to accounting. Great except apparently she never answers or calls back when voicemail is left. Its a run around, then when I ask the ride receptionist if I could talk to someone because I need this handled she gets snappy with me and sends me to some voice mail supposedly of someone that can help and I get hung up on. I just want my money back and to be done with this entire situation.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/04/2023

      Good afternoon,

****************** did hire our firm and we performed significant work on her case. The questions she asked of our assistants were questions that required an attorney to review. Once we had an answer, we did our best to communicate it timely with ******************. Additionally, ****************** met with the attorney's paralegal on November 6th to review the drafted bankruptcy petition, and request any additional information that would be required by the courts. An email was sent to ****************** on October 31st explaining that her bankruptcy petition was already drafted, based on information previously provided by ******************, and that the call with the paralegal would be to review it and fill in any blanks. This call does require us to ask a lot of questions, as we are verifying and entering information to finish the bankruptcy petition in anticipation of scheduling the client to meet with their attorney to file their case. Unfortunately, during the call, we found that we were missing some documentation needed to file the case, and we could not move forward until we received it. This was explained to ****************** during the call.

On November 12, ****************** emailed our office saying she no longer wanted to move forward and instead wanted to work directly with her creditors instead of filing a bankruptcy. On November 14, we reached out and confirmed that was her intent. It was explained that due to the work performed, and expense incurred, we would be unable to give her a refund of the $500 that she had paid.

Our refund policy is clearly outlined on page 5 of the service agreement she signed on October 16th. I've attached a copy of her signed agreement to this response. In addition, on page 6 of the agreement, it is clearly outlined how to dispute her attorneys fees, and that any dispute we would agree to submit to the ********* State Bar fee arbitration program if we were not able to come to a resolution directly.

I am also at a loss because I have been making contact with this business on a continuous basis and was told on Monday, November 13, 2023 that I was not going to receive a refund because they were going to bill me for creditor notification. They have never notified any of my creditors, period. That is what caused me to file this complaint with the BBB. I did see that I have a missed call from them after I filed this complaint so I will be contacting them to see if this issue can be resolved satisfactorily.

I received a letter saying that I was not going to receive a refund of the $700.00 I have paid so far, because Miller & Miller state that they were in stage 2A of the process but they have never contacted any creditors on my behalf. I emailed ****************** on 7/25/203 letting him know that I was overwhelmed because I was being garnished by two creditors and was going to have to trying filing bankruptcy on my own to get relief. I never received a response back. I was only contacted after I stopped allowing payments to be taken from my bank account. Most of the things listed that Miller & Miller should have done for me, I did myself because I was so desperate. I ultimately decided not to file bankruptcy myself and have just allowed my paycheck to be garnished. It's horrible that Miller & Miller want to keep $700.00 for doing absolutely nothing. If they provided a service, they should have sent my a bill. Also I feel like, I should of been made aware to the stages beforehand, not after the fact.

On September 28th I retained Miller and Miller for a Chapter 7. ****** told me and my wife that we qualified for a chapter 7. Over the next several months we gave them all required documents. After our final payment of $150 on May 24th to equal $2600. Our lawyer ************************* informed us that we did not qualify for a Chapter 7. Instead we would have to do consolidation which costs more money. On June 30 ************************* left Miller and Miller. We were past off to another lawyer, *****************************. We didn't hear anything until I e-mailed ****** on July 26th. ****** seemed like he just didn't care and only contacted us if I e-mailed him for case updates. On our last call he said it would cost $1700 a month for a consolidation. On August 11th I e-mailed ****** letting him know I was not interested in discussing my case any further and wanted a refund. I read my contract and would like the refund I am owed. I feel that Miller and Miller knew I wouldn't qualify and let me pay the $2600 before telling me I didn't qualify. Then me lawyer left and I got stuck with a lawyer who didn't care, they already had their money. I have heard nothing back from them about any sort of refund or anything. It seems like they just took my money with no intention of doing a Chapter 7, old bait and switch.

We have been in touch with ********************* and have agreed to part ways. We have since refunded ********************* directly to his card and sent him a letter explaining that we have closed his file with our office as requested. However, it should be noted that we never misled *********************. Based on the information provided by ********************* during his initial consultation, we did believe ********************* would qualify for a chapter 7 bankruptcy. It was only after collecting his proof of income and preparing his bankruptcy petition, did we realize that ********************* no longer qualified for a chapter 7 due to his income levels being over the threshold to file a chapter 7. Attorney Knight relayed that information to *********************, went through the issues prohibiting the filing, and confirmed that those circumstances were part of his regular work schedule and would not be changing. Attorney Knight then explained a chapter 13 bankruptcy was an alternative option if ********************* still wished to file. Upon being assigned a new attorney, ************************* case was reviewed a second time by the new attorney. It was agreed upon that a chapter 7 would not work, and that attorney did let ********************* know that he could file a chapter 13 bankruptcy and was quoted an approximate monthly payment at that time. Upon receipt of ************************* complaint, Attorney Miller did reach out to him in an attempt to review his case and see if any circumstances had changed that would allow a filing of a chapter 7. However, ********************* reiterated his desire to terminate his service with our office. It is never our intent to frustrate or not meet a client's expectations, and we are sorry that we were not able to deliver exceptional service to him. We will certainly use his scenario as a learning ****** for all involved.

Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
