Had my chimney rebuilt by Royal Chimney to address a continual water leak for the past 10 years. Was very impressed with how well the technician explained WHY the chimney was leaking with two options for repair. I chose the more substantial repair and am glad I did!
The leak has stopped, and we can finally call in the drywallers to repair the ceiling, I always get a live person when calling them and very professional. Have recommended them to our neighbors and co-workers.

We used Royal Chimney for our new fireplace insert. We are so happy we finally got it done, our house is nice and warm just in time for the cold weather. The workers were so nice and easy to talk to. They made the whole process super easy and enjoyable.

Spent $1,400 because of a small leak. They tuck pointed, added a crown and a layer of crown sealant that they said can last 20 years. Well six years later that small leak is back in the same place. They want another $1,400 to fix it. *******

On November 7,2016 we gave you two options at the time to address your chimney leak, option #1 rebuilding & flashing replacement with a 10 year NO LEAK warranty. You chose option #2 a less substantial repair with a 1 -year workmanship warranty that has lasted for 6 years. Chimneys do deteriorate and crack with our many freeze thaw cycles that happen each year in *********. What to expect was clearly spelled out in writing and discussed with you and your choice was the less extensive repair.

Who the **** spends $240 every year to waterproof their chimney? Even in *********! Tell me!

The last time water repellant was applied was 6 years ago not one year. There is fresh cracking to this chimney indicating the chimney is experiencing movement. Contributing to this is the cable/phone line attached to the flue tile from 100 ft away pulling on the chimney and your wood furnace temperatures causing the flue liner to expand creating fresh cracking to the mortar crown wash. Chimneys should never be used as an anchor point for power lines or antennas or satellite dishes. As stated before the more permanent repair option that was given is to rebuild the stone chimney with a 4 inch thick poured concrete crown with a 2 inch drip edge to shed water away from the chimney. Patching or water repellant will not address fresh cracking to your chimney in other areas. The National Fire Protection 211 standard states "all chimneys should be inspected annually" for creosote buildup and structural integrity. Please give us a call if you would like to discuss this matter further.

I did not say anything about waterproofing one year ago. Your estimate to do the same work 6 years later pointed out gaps in flashing pieces that were there when you were out the first time. No, the gaps didn't widen that's how the roofers laid them. Why didn't you notice that the first time? I inspect and clean the chimney every year so I know what is going on. Your company put in a steel liner for the wood stove but at that time nothing was said about how it could affect the mortar. Your company put the crown wash on but again nothing was said about possible problems because of a wood stove. Your company laid the cement crown but nothing was said about problems a wood stove would cause. Nothing was ever said about a thin wire running over to a tree but now all these things are problems. The only thing moving on the roof is my wallet and you trying to grab it.
