Had a best friend all the way from childhood sucker me into buying whole life insurance through this company. Before the underwriting was even completed they began drawing money from my account. After the second withdraw was taken from my account without the underwriting completed I did some due diligence like I should have initially and found that this is a predatory product for the company. I canceled the policy immediately after finding out, then they said I would receive a full refund for the amount I paid in.. Customer service told me the funds would be deposited back into my account within two weeks.. It has now been almost a month and no one can tell me where my money is. My friend said the money should have been deposited back into my account but I called customer service today and they are now saying they had to mail it as a check. I received a cancellation letter of the policy about a week after canceling but nothing for my refund.I’m almost at the point where I will just report it to my bank as fraud and have them figure it out. THIS COMPANY IS A FULL ON SCAM SCAM SCAM when it comes to anything remotely close to customer service. Never again will I EVER trust a friend of mine with my finances or anything related.

Horrendous customer service. How is it that when you sign up they take money out of your account before youre approved but take 5 months to officially cancel your policy while continuing to take money from your account. Excuses left and right on why the emails werent sent to cancel. Stay away

Very unresponsive and unprofessional representatives. We declined coverage. If we were having a hard time communicating during the sales period, I'm sure when we need support it will be a nightmare.

I find Northwestern Mutual to be a strong company. My representative, Chuck*****************, has always made himself available via in person, phone or email. He is knowledgeable and provides all options available. He replies quickly to communications and follows through with all requests. The online account website is informative, data is kept updated and is easily viewed. Most changes to policies can be made within one's account. My only complaint with this company is their log in requirements. I understand the need for security and sending security codes to verify one's identity; however, no options are given to receive those codes. I purchased my cell phone to use for making and receiving phone calls. Not for texting, apps, gaming or to be used as a camera. It is not an appendage. I conduct my business and handle my accounts on my computer or via phone with a live person. The option to have security codes sent via email is not available and I resent having to have my phone in hand in order to log in to my online account. I brought this to the attention of my representative but this is not his area of expertise. As a result, I have changed my preferences to receive all documents sent via US Mail, not electronically. A tragic waste of trees in this day and age but it is that much of a bother to have to sign into my account using my cell phone. Northwestern should have taken that into consideration. If Northwestern Mutual Life made the option available to receive security codes via email; then, I would consider them a five star company. They should not be making the decision of how to receive security codes their decision. That is a decision to be made by the customer.

Working with Northwestern Mutual was a nightmare. Our representative Dallas ****** was awful. My fiancé didn’t know anything about life insurance and signed us up for a plan we could not afford. That is our own fault but when it came time to canceling it is when things got bad. We were being charged almost 1,000$ a month so I needed to get it canceled ASAP. When I reached out to Dallas she said she could not help us then, so I reached out to the home office. After canceling through them all the sudden Dallas was texting and available. Shocker. Then the next month we got wrongfully charged almost 1,000$ and when I reached out to her she said we “went behind her back” and she could no longer help us. Then later we got charged because they didn’t cancel all of our accounts after we specifically asked them too. After many calls and no help from our representative we we’re finally able to cancel the last plan and get all of our money back. This is the worst company and would never recommend anyone work with them.

I have a payment problem from this company. I have been calling for over a month and receive different excuses and broken promises each time for my 6 phone calls I made to their customer services office. They don't handle the customer's needs but do well at being evasive and unhelpful.

They hound you and say anything for you to sign. Change contracts up, then tell you it’s the same after multiple times. They are completely unorganized. They just are trying to make sales that is all. Do not trust them at all.

DO not do business with them. They have robbed us of $800.00 of monthly premiums they charged us before the transfer of funds over from State Farm. In the middle of it all, they increased my husbands premium and we found via a letter. Not even a phone call or email. They are deceitful, manipulative and have poor customer service. I feel cheated and robbed. if I can help others from being scammed or robbed of their hard earned money I will. So Please save yourself the time, stress, and money and DO NOT DO business with this company. Go some where else instead where they will treat you with respect, and communicate with you any changes to your policy that will be made. You don't just get a surprise letter in the mail letting you know of the changes to your policy instead. Poor service, they only care about your money but not about you. You will thank me later. State Farm is subpar compared to NMW.
