On 8/24/22 brought in a ***** 6 for repair, I paid ****** . The ***** was smoking and the hose to the radiator was not attached, it was leaking fuilds, they attached a clamp and said it should be fine, months later it began to smoke again brought it back again another clamp was used, however ****** the store manager said it could be thermostat, paid ****** 02/24/23 the problem still remained I took it to another shop in which the entire radiator needed replacement, needless to say midas did a diagnostic, but continued to not fix the problem, I believe I was overcharged for a job.

Customer had a leak diagnostic service performed on 9-27-2022 at that time she paid for the service but declined the recommended radiator replacement. The customer did not return until 2-23-23 with a water pump that was seized and not spinning. At this time, she opted to perform the water pump replacement and the thermostat due to debris from the failed water pump potentially getting into the system. They still did not replace the leaking radiator. Her son brought the vehicle back a few days later and we discussed that they still hadn't replaced the radiator.  ****** my manager explained that until they replace the radiator, they would still lose coolant and overheat. Customer left and we did not hear from them until they claimed we damaged the radiator.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Hello I was writing to dispute midas claim,  I don't agree to what they are saying. This issue happened 08/24/22 is when the car was initially tooken in for over heating and leaking of fluid into the entire engine, the holes that was connected to the radiator continued to slip off, and caused fuilds to wet the engine,  a repair was done on this date of the amount of ******. In which they cut the holes and placed a  clamp to secure it. Then on 9/27/22, again we again explained there was still this problem with fuilds leaking and smoking they again checked the system  this time charging him for coolant, this charge was for *****, however the problem continued, on 2/14/2023 we took the car to aj towing and auto repair,  they made us aware that whoever was fixing prior had cut the radiator outlet and hose and that we needed to take it back. That day we paid them ****** to fix minor repairs.  Went back to ask why did the cut the hose to the radiator system? this time midas tried to discount an charged an additional ****** on 2/24/23, again a day later the car started smoking,  we drove the car right to midas, the manager took the car in, tighten the clap, I expressed then to ****** why did you cut the hose, he said that it was normal,  however it made problems worse,  they again put fuilds back into the car, and tighten again, we then took the car to a dnd auto who stated the radiator was gone, that that's why the fuilds where leaking,  so they replaced it on 3/18/2023, for 970.00$, I'm asking for all money to be refunded,  due to midas grossly over charging and fixing all around the issue,  I'm asking for the ****** back as well as them charging for coolant, and the charge of ******, they put the vehicle on the scoop, when confronted they tried to cover up, and not respond to the issue. Please fill free to contact me at ************ Thank you *********************

I have attached the completed invoice dated 9-27-22 which the customer paid for a coolant pressure test to determine the issue on the vehicle. Please not the bottom where the declined services clearly recommend a radiator which was declined and never replaced by the customer. When the customer returned during the most recent visit it was due to a failure with the water pump. They were advised at that time and follow up visit that the radiator which we had previously recommend was still leaking and needed to be replaced.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Please type your response here.] on 9-27-22 I came in asking to repair a serious leaking issue, in which the vehicle was over heating and pouring fluids over the entire engine due to the holes popping off the radiator, Midas suggested that a clamp could fix the problem, i am not a mechanic and therefore assumed, that this repair would fix the leaking issue as well as the holes issue, however in the process of midas trying to repair the issue, they cut the holes to short, and did more damage in which created a bigger problem for months to come, on 2-24-23 midas continued to add fluids due to an issue that continued to leak into the engine, the clamp that they placed on did not hold in place it continued to pop off, they charged me ****** additional monies for a repair that wasn't made, they continued placing coolant, and fuilds, and a different clamp, i than decided to have another shop look at the issue aj towing and repair ************, thet is when i was asked who cut the outlet and holes to the radiator? i explained to him that midas had dine work on it, he told me to go back, they need to fix it, we wrote it on the invoice, i again went to midas to ask why they cut it, and expressed my disappointment in hiding what they had done, again they didn't want to take accountability, nor did they want to repair the problem, at this point the trust was broken i took it to d and d and they stated that the radiator was gone the entire time. Midas had not only did damage to the radiator but overcharged. i had the radiator replaced. midas sent you paperwork, however tried to cover up by using there print out  and adding messages, the paperwork from the other shops don't lie and proves that Midas made a big mistake, and tried to ignore the issue, that is when i put in this formal complaint.
