CPR was hired by myself and my insurer to restore my patio roof and house roof after a huge tree had been blown onto it by a storm.First, they dragged out the patio roof repair for months. When the finally got to the house roof, they sent only one person, he worked only a part day, then failed to adequately tarp the bare(no shingles)roof, then didn't return for days. A rainstorm then was able to pour into the house, collapsing my kitchen ceiling! The two project managers came here immediately, took pictures, and agreed to repair the damage at their expense. Unbelievably, the sole roofer did the exact same thing a week later, resulting in collapse of my entire bathroom ceiling and part of a bedroom ceiling! The project managers came here, cleaned up, and promised to repair everything at their expense, again.During one of the two visits, my insurance adjuster was here to verify that the new damage was the fault of CPR, and the project managers and he modified the insurance agreement to reflect that fact.CPR sent a competent ********* to finish the roof, and to begin repairs to the damage caused by CPR.Suddenly, a man named ***********************, claiming to be the *** or owner, or both, of CPR called that he was now handling my case. He fired the two project managers, and pulled the ********* off my job.During a phone call to me, I sent the third quarterly payment to CPR, and ******* promised that the ********* would return to finish the job next week. ******* lied. I had him on speaker phone, and have to witnesses. The ********* never returned.Subsequently emails to ******* received abusive, even psychotic replies! He insisted I pay HIM $6000, UPFRONT, to repair the damage his people did.Fearing he is psychotic, I contacted my attorney, rather than the BBB. ******* has ignored the Attorney's Right to Cure letter, and sent another abusive email. So I am contacting you and the ** Dept.of Consumer Protection now, hoping one or both agencies can find a cure for this guy!

      Business Response

      Date: 05/26/2023

      This is an easy one to respond to; he owes money and squandered away the funds he got. Then he got an Attorney to help him and once we explained that is grossly in arrears and owes us money, he dropped him. He saw we were telling the truth. The house is run down and we do only what Insurance pays for, yet we proceeded. Heres why;

We did work to cover and tarp during the winter season after the loss initially occurred late Fall and the adjuster and insurance paid a portion ACV or Actual Cash Value. We worked on the interior after getting a down payment and the rest of the money he invested. We did the demo to start rebuilding and of course ran into non-covered long term damages. We have to fix those before proceeding. This went room by room as we worked on the house. Some of which the Insurance agreed to pay.
long story short, when I talked to him I asked him to get current on his balance due and he was by then well behind paying us. So he emptied the last of what he had left after investing and Insurance and it fell $6000+ short. The value of a good used car!

When he asked ** to keep going after being so far behind we refused. Not surprisingly no other Contractor has either. He owes a substantial sum of money and we wont do anymore until he pays what he owes.

Feel free to call me at ************ and ask for **** for any more details you may wish to verify.

      Kind Regards,

      *******

      Customer Answer

      Date: 05/27/2023

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

As I feared, *********************** is clearly a sociopathic liar. There is not one grain of truth in any assertion he made! As usual, he added insults to injury, as my house is not the least bit run down; he's never even SEEN IT!

Please advise : what can BBB do when dealing with sociopathic liars?
Do I need to find a way to document every single lie and insult? I don't know how to attach tons of documents and photos to this email.

Can  i "snail mail" docs to BBB?

I assume I simply attach the case number to each document and to the envelope.

Isn't there some way ******* can be forced to provide documentation to support his lies? Since he would have NOTHING to support his overt lies(they are NOT "differences of opinion")that should prove he's lying with EVERY assertion and EVIL INSULT! (Beside the egregious insult about the condition of my house, he has the nerve to say I "squandered" insurance money! Every cent is accounted for, and his company has received every cent owed except $2000 and change which will be paid when CPR repairs all the damage they caused AND finishes the original job!)

      Regards,
