Hello to whom this concerns,I was a student tenant at the Annex of Oshkosh as I attended the *********************** - Oshkosh. I had lived in this complex for about three years and for most of it I didn't have a problem. But where the issue lies, and the reason I am seeking a refund is because I was wrongly charged for rent past the final date on my lease agreement. I tried talking to the people within the complex and they would never give me a definitive answer or would shift blame to Granite Student Living even though they used this lease agreement. On my legally binding lease agreement it stated that my lease was set to expire on 7/31/2024 and the last rental payment for this lease was due on 5/01/2024. In which they did not honor this and told me definitively that I was required to pay through 7/01/2024 even though it is clearly stated on my lease agreement that the final rental payment was on 5/01/2024.Prior to taking residence here, I agreed to pay three months in advance and was not allowed to move in until those three months were paid. I did this to not have to pay on the back end of the lease in which they did not honor.I was required to pay $790.00 per month in rent. I made the following payments as they told me I was required to pay even though my lease agreement said differently:6/03/2024 - $858.95 ($790 Rent)7/02/2024 - $928.07 ($790 Rent) After numerous attempts to find a resolution between the Annex of Oshkosh and Granite Student Living neither side wanted to take responsibility. And as of recent, on 8/16/2024 I was given my final notice and the amount of my safety deposit that I would be getting back and wasn't given a date on the notice of when to expect the refund. Therefore, I contacted the Annex about when I could expect to get the refund and they gave me a date and when that day arrived I had not received it. So I contacted them again and they told me that I could expect it by 9/06/2024 and have still not received it.

I have reached out to my manager. She is reviewing this issue. She should have this resolved by the end of the week.

It seems the previous management company, Granite, did not put the proper lease end date on his lease. He did have to pay his last two months rent.

I had a lease term beginning in august 17th 2023. I was told I would have to find someone to agree to a lease transfer. I found someone through ******** market place and she signed a new lease to replace mine on July 3rd 2023. So her term will replace mine and begin august 17th 2023.I am being given release forms for my lease, but they are charging me $840 (a full months rent) to release me claiming they spent that money on administrative costs to find my replacement and file paperwork. I asked for an itemized receipt to show how they spent $840 when I found the applicant. They said I cannot do that for you ****. I believe they are making an illegal profit off of me. In law they must reduce losses to me and present an itemized receipt showing the reason for the charge. They have failed this. They are profiting from my loss and committing a crime against me.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[I accept that I will be waived the fee, but as I was already charged, I must be refunded. They have not refunded me $840 that was taken from my bank account. Since I am waived of this fee, they must refund me.]
