We have been in contact with this customer for the issues described in her complaint, we have also stated to her that we would be more than willing to reimburse her for the work performed by other contractors, please note that we never stated that we could not fix the issues at hand, the foundation leaking during construction has been resolved for months, the contractor for the roof repair and what they state needs to be repaired, has not returned any of my calls, so that i can discuss the matter with him.

There is work that needs to be finished and we have every intent to complete the work, there is other issues that the customer has brought up after months of completion of the addition, but again, we will fix and complete the work.

we always communicate with our customers on any issues.. yes this customer helped us out. We were thankful for that.

Project contract signed July 23, 2023 also ****** given for upfront material costs. She'd was built but nothing else till mid February of this year when excavation and crawl space was done. Ask for ****** more was given and a additional 5000 personal loan. Nothing done after that other than vapor barrier and some stone on the bottom of crawl space. Promises to come but never does. Currently been over a month but works on other project. Also both the excavator and concrete guy have threatened leans as they haven't been paid in over 100 days. Avoids there calls and messages. He ******* ***** to oay **** and proudly says its standard business practices. Want all my money back or the job done as he promised by July 31st.

Thank you for taking the time to send over this complaint.

We have been working with this customer for almost a year, please note that this project had many hoops to go through to get the permit approved in the first place, which we eventually did, during that periodic time, we contracted other work out and began other projects, I was in contact with Mr ***** on numerous occasions as I do with every customer to keep them informed of the progress. Since the addition has started, we had to go through additional work to get the approval from the inspector to move forward, however,  like almost any contractor, we have other work going on at the same time.

When a statement is made about a company and a complaint is made and a story is told, the whole story should be stated, Mr ***** contacted the police **** because we didn't show up there to work, the police officer contacted me and I stated to the officer and Mr ***** that our goal is to have the addition to the point that it would be livable, that does not mean that it will be totally completed, because i didn't answer the phone one day, Mr ***** decided to show up at another customers house and scream and cuss and slam his fist on the hood of my truck, I proceeded to get into my vehicle and leave before the situation escalated into something more, other contractors that make claims they haven't been paid, is not facts, one contactor has received a payment and the other contractor has not taken the time to send me a invoice for said work, the one contractor never even gave me a estimate to do the work, he stated " you let me know what you think it's worth " and we will go from there.

We have had many conversations with Mr ***** and he always made the statement " I am not worried about it, I know it will get done " and now here we are...

Please note that this situation does not have all the facts.... and i could state more facts, but I will leave it at that

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear

I have contacted the other contractors this morning and both have said they have not been paid. He hasn't responded to calls ir messages from the excavator company as he promised payment a few weeks ago again. The concrete contractor has given it to his lawyer and no payment has been made as of today. This is my problem he lies and delays as he has spent my money on other projects which he has said in text message to me as common practice. I sent him the contractual law that states it must be used for **** contract and not other contracts so ***** to **** as he has done.

As to me showing up i did but i did not slam any fists as their home iwners ring will show. I did yell at him as it wasn't about not answering the phone it was the day the second contractor came to tell me about not being paid and putting a lein on my home.

The extra requirements were adding foam insulation and gravel to the crawl space. He knew what was needed but tried to cut corners by not doing what was asked. Foam was not all the wall to bottom and hardly any gravel covering plastic vapor barrier on floor. Could of come the next day to complete after inspection but took weeks to come back.

Tired of the constant lies as now im dealing with him trying to say that the lumbar was attempted to be delivered multiple times and they also once went to wrong city .... really when asked who they are so i could check he wont say. Also stated he was going to come with material but never showed up. Been almost two weeks again since hes been here. I have all his promises of coming on text and have video of no attempted deliveries. As to the dumpster the only thing in there from my project was 2 small walls of siding and some scrap wood. He dumped industrial project material he was doing and project materials from another home which he stated in text he would do together with mine. He didn't after crawl space was done in early March just completed the other home addition.

Will be happy to supply all texts and phone #s of unpaid contractors. Also think that if all these attempted deliveries were done there should bd a paper trail .... wheres that?  Told me to that on three separate occasions since March he was ordering the windows and that the ******* *** was coming to do the house. Have all this on text as well.

Finally as to the conversations with the police officer, the officer stated to me that he said it would be done not habitable by July 31st and he knew about that date since March when the contractor and I discussed this project.  In fact at that time he stated that it would be mostly done except the painting of the home by the time I left on vacation which was May 14 - 21 which dud not happen.

If you need anything just call me and I'll supply you with everyone's #  thnx

We have been on contact with this customer and we have stated that we would be arriving at the residence on monday August 6, 2024 to work on the stated project.

As far as the insulation goes, i stated to the homeowner that we have not had to add insulation to the foundation in the past. It is also stated vaguely in the code book for the state of wisc that the insulation can be added to go below the grade level, it seems that it is a code that is enforced by each city and or village.

We do plan to finish the work at this customer, it has been very difficult to find contractors to work and show up for work.

We contracted with *** to build a new garage. We paid him ***** to start. He never started the work due to issues with getting the necessary permits from the city, mainly because he has a criminal record. After nearly of year of hearing his excuses, we asked him to return the money we paid him. He refuses. We have obtained a lawyer and their opinion is that he has no valuable assets that even if we were to seek litigation, there would be minimal resolution since he has no assets. Garnishing his wages is our only hope to ever receiving any of our money back. Its clear from reading other reviews that all *** does is give excuses and excuses and does not take any accountability for his actions. Shame on you ***. Lets see what kind of excuses h*** provide in response to this complaint.

    Dear ***,

We would be more then wiling to seek the garage to be built as discussed, I have been in contact with the same sub contractor as you have and he is also not licensed with the city of ********* and or through the state, I have reached out to several of my sub contractors to get the existing garage removed and the new garage built for you and your husband.

Me having a criminal background is not what stopped me or the company from getting licensed through the city of *********, there was a old issue from ******** that prevented the license to be obtained.

That being said, we have found a licensed demo company through the city of ********* and a licensed concrete contractor to install the Concrete slab for the garage.

The company is shutting down for business in the near future,  however I would still prefer to get this resolved with a local contractor that is licensed through the city of *********..

My company is licensed through the state of ********* and  always has been since the day we opened the company, the city of milwuakee of the only city in the state that requires a license through the city. We would like to resolve this issue and come up with solution so that you guys can have your new garage and enjoy it..

If you have a idea for a local contractor that is licensed through the city, I am all ears...

I have reached out to several of my contacts and because ********* only has a selected few contractors through the city... the ones that I have contacted couldn't start there work till the mid of end of July 2024..

Thank you for your time in this matter

We contracted to have an existing screened in porch changed to a fully enclosed sunroom. This company did so much damage to our home before even starting the project. We specifically instructed no backhoe or heavy equipment but it was used and holes were punched into our foundation. Bricks were pushed out which caused water in our basement. Two areas of our roof were also broken and damaged. The concrete floor was laid on such an angle that one side of *********** has 4 inches of concrete on the outside while the opposite side has 1 inch. We went for weeks without any workers showing up. We expected the job done in 3 weeks and when *** decided he was done, and demanded money and threatened to **** it had been more than 3 months. The only way we got workers (I use the term lightly-most were completely inept) was to threaten him with a lawyer if we didn't see some work getting done. The cedar paneling *** put up does not follow the lines of the floor; and he even tried to piece little pieces together, The paneling was put up with wrong side up which will have to be sanded now. The roofer we asked to inspect the roof damage found that *** never caulked the tops of the patio doors. We had leaking and *** told us that was between us and ******** windows. The ******** rep said the windows should have been transported upright which they were not. *** hauled them in his truck and left them for days flat on our lawn. We continue to have leaking. This is all I am able to write in this space but there were more problems. We would like the BBB rating changed to an "F" to prevent others from hiring this company. We made our decision based on the BBB rating. We want $10,000.00 of our payment back to pay for the professionals we will hire to fix the problems in ***********.

    Business Response

    Date: 09/25/2023

    Good Morning,

In response to the above complaint.  Some of the information in this complaint is valid, There was some damage that was done during the process and removal of the concrete, During the process of removing the concrete I did speak with the homeowner and showed her the thickness of the concrete and that there would be no way that anyone could remove that concrete by hand, The concrete contractor did drive on the concrete patio after I instructed him not to, however once he showed me the concrete and the thickness of it , there would of been no other solution but to do this but with a machine, The little bit of damage that was done during the removal process was in fact repaired as i stated to the homeowner that it would be and all of it was fixed, The homeowner states that the whole house shook and that the house shifted during the removal of the concrete and this is no possible in my opinion with a skidster, We did not do any work on the roof as it was existing already, We did come there and did some additional caulking on the roof ( Free of charge ). I personally spoke to the roofing contractor that went there to look at the roof and he stated to me that, that roof has been leaking for a few years and he has been there several times to fix the issue and he also stated he did some work for free as well when he was there, There was prior damage done to the brick on the outside of the house where there was patch work done and we have many pictures to show of damage that was preexisting, The cedar tongue and groove that was installed is in fact level and even though the statement was made that it does not follow the floor line, I am not to sure what this means exactly , however we did give the owner a credit for several parts of the job... There was a very decent amount of work that was done that we did not charge for that the owners boyfriend asked us to do.

    1. Filled in the cracks on the patio and repaired sections of the patio that we broken that we not caused by anything we did

    2. Painted the entire patio free of charge

    3. Gave the owner $2,000 in credits on the final bill

There were several times that I and my workers came to the project and got screamed at and " f " this and the owner is going to sell the house and the owner does not like it and so on, Many of the neighbors said that it looked great.

Further more the tops of the doors were caulked and there was a few spots that the caulk was not thick enough, There was drip cap installed above the doors as well, I peronally came to the project and put a level on the concrete and it is level, I am not aware of any issue with the concrete having 2 thicknesses. When installing new concrete against existing concrete, it is going to look different because the existing concrete may not be level any longer.

We feel with the credits that we gave and the work that we did not charge and or the change orders that we did not charge for, the owners boyfriend asked for the work to be done and he made the statement, Well you did not tell me it would cost any extra... The list can go on and on, I was there personally in the pouring rain with a employee of mine to fix the water issue that was coming in from the bottom of the door, The statement that was made about it being between the owner and ******** was about the warranty issue with the doors, The patio door did not shut properly and I stated to the homeowner that this is a warranty issue, The warranty **** did send someone out there and I did speak with him and he did show me a bracket that needed to be changed out after shipment, However the bracket that he showed me did not arrive with the doors. He did repair them.

That all being said anytime there was a issue, we came out that day or the next day to take care of the issue, I did make the final statement that i was terminating the last converstation after spending days being cussed at, I did not raise my voice or act unprofessional at any time, However we are working on litigation for deflamation of character of remors that are being spread around and individuals that are willing to go to court on our behalf for the statements.

Again we feel that we did everything we could between repairing the issues stated and they were all repaired, Along with the additional work that was done that we did not charge for and legally could and still could... Thank you for your time in this matter.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

It is difficult to respond to lies. The $2000 credit is a lie.  Our quote was $37000.  I paid $27000 and the final bill was increased to $10750.  He gave us $750 off due to the poor job. **** from D&D NEVER did work on my roof.  He gave me an estimate for a shingle (not including metal) roof 11 years ago. **** mentioned to me how funny it was that when *** was here he acted like ****** best friend.  **** thought it amusing as **** had never met/spoke to *** in his life. *** told me there was an existing roof leak.  His statement defies logic.  Why would I pay to build a room under a leaking roof? My neighbor ****'s opinion does not matter. As an aside, all she said was patio doors looked better than screens (from the street). She, nor anyone else, has ever been allowed to see the inside or outside damage.  We are ashamed we were taken. The ADDITIONAL caulking on the roof was to replace parts they damaged. There was no need for anything to be done to our roof before they damaged it. The tops of the patio doors were NEVER CAULKED which caused the pooling water on the floors. Yes I did call when the water started to pool and *** came out. He never noticed he did not caulk the tops of the doors that time either.  That mistake was found by the roofer. "Little bit of damage" to our house were HOLES in the foundation, BRICKS PULLED OUT, and WATER in the basement. I told him to stop bringing certain workers here.  I wanted to speak to the concrete worker but *** said he "couldn't find him" and "his girlfriend hasn't seen him in weeks". A woman, dressed for a beach party, came to "work" She complained and whined constantly.  "God **** this nail" Somebody help me". She stood on tip-toes,(A LADDER STOOD RIGHT NEXT TO HER),cigarette hanging from her mouth, using a drill at 30degrees when it should have been 90. True statements cannot be grounds for defamation. *** might want to check ******** for more defendants if he pursues. We found them too late. I know I will have to file my own lawsuit to recover money to have our room professionally done. However, his BBB rating should not continue as an A+. This is harming many people, as it harmed us, who took this rating to heart.
    Regards,

    Business Response

    Date: 09/26/2023

The $2,000 credit that we speak of is additonal work that was done on the property outside of the agreed contact,  if you wish you pursue litigation that is your rite, in the meantime we will file a counter suite for such work that was done outside of the contract and if the judge finds it to be relevant in court, we will pursue it at that point and continue with the lien process, it was not a statement saying we credited you the money off of the contract, it is simply work that the company did that was not agreed upon in the contract, making comments about situations that are already resolved and irrelevant at this point does not make sense.

The last conversation we had about the concrete contractor you had made a statement that you wanted to go after his insurance and I made the statement that he could not be found, which is in fact true and he is still not able to be found.

You speak of these professionals and make statements of how you want $10,000 of the money that was paid out back to hire professionals to repair the work, i would like to see pictures of work that you state and a itemized estimate from these other contractors so that when the litigation process begins, we can make sure to have them subpoenaed to court for the statements.

Anytime I received a phone call, I was either there that day to go over the issue, and everytime I received a call it was always something different, in my opinion it was a way to manipulate taking additional money off of the final invoice. I do have many pictures of the work along with notes and sessions of screaming at me and yelling so the whole neighborhood could hear it.

*************, I was never disrespectful to you at any time and I made statements to you that other contractors are trying to make you spend money you don't need to spend, I have been in this industry for 25+ Yrs and a father that was a very successful business man, if you would like to proceed with the litigation of the $10,000 you seek, then we will have no hesitation to come and file a counter suit for the additional work that was done and the pictures to prove such work for the judge to see.

Please feel free to submit any paperwork you have in writing from these other contractors stating that it needs to be fixed along with a name and phone number and address so that we can have them served as well. Further more you state that the basement leaked but there is not any specific proof that it never leaked before we worked there... nor is there any pictures or a video of the basement leaking, any of the other small damage that was caused was all repaired and I walked around with * Mark * your boyfriend to discuss all of it, even though my contract was with you and the individual I should of been speaking to was you.

The last conversation we had I stated we were done talking because again both of you were making a scene in front of the warranty company for ******** and if you wanted to speak with me about a issue, you could have pulled me away and aside from the gentlemen and let him do his work instead of cussing at me and making a scene which again I do have the conversation recorded on my phone, at that point I had enough with the disrespect and I said we were done talking and the comment you made was, you will be hearing from me again.

That said I feel more then confident that we did a fair amount of work and didn't charge you for it, however if you decide to file litigation,  then we again will have no choice but to do the same...

    *************,

If there was in fact leakage during the rain and it came in under the door, there was not a call made to anyone from my office in regards to this, the time it rained and it was coming in, I and one of my workers came over during the rain to see where it was coming in at, which at this point we were soaked to make sure that the area was sealed, I personally stayed there for a good 20 mins to make sure that the leakage had stopped, based on the pictures it looks to me like there is a moisture issue in that area, I would recommend putting a dehumidifier out there to help keep the moisture in that room down, I would advise that the next time it rains and if you see water coming in from under the door, please time stamp and date the video and or state in the video what day it is so that it can be recorded, we would have no problem coming there to take care of any issues that are a direct result from the work that was performed by my company and or send a contractor there to fix the issue and or have them advise my office of the issue.

Again please contact us with this concern and we would have no problem resolving it..

We are devastated about the recent problems with the sun room.  When *** first gave us an estimate, he said we didn't need a new roof. With the weather change, the warm air inside the sunroom and the cold air on the metal roof is causing condensation.  It literally rains in the sunroom. We have water coming in from the doors when it rains, and now water dripping every morning. He should have known we would need a different roof.  We can't even imagine the additional costs we will incur.  We have a $37000 empty wet room that is not usable. I know this does not matter to anyone, but **** and I were planning to be married on the patio in September and have a party in our new sunroom.   We are devastated. We know *** will do nothing about this or return any of our money and continue to enjoy an A+ BBB rating.

We paid over 70k to have a garage, driveway and rear entrance our house built. The concrete work is cracked on the main garage foundation along with the whole entire cement work. Cracks keep showing up, and all I'm getting is excuses. The company that poured the concrete (GI Concrete) won't talk to me because they contracted with Affordable Building. I don't know where to turn, I have all the paperwork and contracts signed. Affordable Building is telling me the concrete work was not done properly but we are getting no where. What do I do for help?

I have been in contact with this customer on several occassions to disucss this issue, I have come up with a couple solutions to the issue and what we can do to fix the issue, I have spoke to the concrete contractor ( Nuno and ***** aka GI Concrete ) about this issue and they make the statements to me that the concrete is not warrantied but they would set up a meeting with the supplier to come out there and look at the project, I have stated to this customer that the ********************** was not installed properly and I have supported them the entire time there has been a issue and I have always communicated with them whenever they wanted me to come over to discuss the options to satisfy the customer, Recently this customer asked me to do some drywall work on the garage that we built for them along with insulate it and install a heater in the corner of the garage, The customer stated that if I could take off some money on the drywall work he would be happy, I met with him and his wife and I went over the options for the concrete work and what we could do, I did have 2 other concrete contractors go out to the residence and look at the work and they both state that it was done pourly and what can be done to fix the issue,

The garage slab never had any cut joints done on it which is part of the process when the concrete is poured.

The driveway needed more joints because of the size of the driveway and this was not done

Some of the rounded corners could of been eliminated to prevent them from breaking off and or cracking ( Which one of the corners have cracked

We have stated to the Concrete contractor ( GI Concrete ) that it has nothing to do with the concrete supplier by any means, this work was pourly done and not done properly and this is why the issues are happening.

As I mentioned before. We are working with the customer on drywalling and insulating the garage along with installing a heater, I reduced the price for the drywall work by $1,600.00 for the issues they are having with the concrete work. When I first met with the customer he stated to me that he would deal with the concrete issue and knowing that it is ugly if I agreed to work with him on the price for installing the drywall work. I feel in my opinion that I have done what I could to make things rite with the customer, On top of discounting the additional work that his wife has signed for and reducing the price for the additional work, We are also offering to repair the concrete work.

I also met with the customer to let them know we could remove the concrete slab and install new concrete, ( Where the garage is standing rite now ) But we would have to cut along the edge of the garage slab and there would be a joint around the perimeter of the garage, We would not be able to guarantee the work at that point either. I have forwarded information to other authorities to have them review it along with my insurance company to review and see if there is anything they can do, The next step that I will be doing for the customer is contact ( GI ********************* ) insurance company and have them come out and look at the work and file a claim with there insurance. Again I feel that I am doing all that I can within my abilities to make it rite with the customer.
