Damage done to underground water line on my property by Intercon Construction *** during gas line replacement for Ameren. I communicated with representatives from InterCon upon discovery of the water line leak. They are: *******************, ************************* and a supervisor named ***. *** and ***** were at my property on 10/16/23. They said they may have pulled on tree roots, damaging my water line. They told me to have repairs done and that theyd come back at that time to inspect the water line. They said if theyre at fault theyd pay for repairs. *** came back during the repairs on 10/19. He looked at the water line/leak and said he couldnt be 100% positive InterCon didnt damage the water line because of the quantity and size of the tree roots surrounding it. He couldnt determine fault as it was above his pay-grade He said hed inform *****. ***** has since said that the damage wasnt caused by InterCon. The owner of ******************** did repair work. 15 years in the field and considered an expert. He discovered a clay **** **** (possible old field drain) located a few inches away from my water line. InterCon was tunneling underground between my water line and a large tree. Water line was pulled by a tree root into the clay **** causing it to break, creating a sharp edge that cut into my water line. Photos (available on request) show a curve in the line from being pulled in the direction of and into the clay ****. They also show the root that InterCon pulled towards their tunneling work. The leak appeared within hours of InterCon tunneling next to my water line going through large tree roots. No chance of a coincidence! A water line of that grade/thickness doesn't get cut without it being pulled against a sharp edge. Common sense prevails in this instance. I am expecting full reimbursement of the cost of the repairs in the amount of $2,435.00, and the additional cost of $300,00 for the thousands of gallons of water wasted due to InterCons negligence.

InterCon is performing further investigation on this situation.  The initial report shows the damage to the water line occurred approximately five feet from where InterCon installed a natural gas line.  InterCon requests further time to review the claim.

Intercon was working around my location between June and Now. The exact day they were at my house I am uncertain of. They were there to replace a pipe per the city/alliant energy. After working on my property, I had notice that they tore up my patio blocks and concrete leaving a nice size gap in my yard and my bricks missing. Also notice that they broke my hose. I spoke with **** numerous times and said that he would work on it and have someone come out to my house. After multiple times of reaching out for follow up **** blocked me from contacting him at the number he provided and stopped returning any calls I made to the office. Finally after a couple weeks I left a message for his supervisor, then received a call back from **** himself. **** then proceeded to tell me that there was no damage to my property because when they were there my hose was not there. That hose has been in the same spot for MONTHS since spring. Yet ******************* didn't ever make it to my house. **** became very rude and not snappy after basically calling me a liar.

InterCon has replaced the sidewalk, as we assured the property owner we would.  While InterCon does not believe we caused the property owner's hose to spring a leak, we have provided the property owner with a new hose in-kind as a good faith effort to resolve the property owner's complaint.
