CARE PROVIDERS WITH COURT DOCUMENTED LEGAL GUARDIANSHIP/POWER OF ATTORNEY BEWARE! We have legal DOCUMENTED guardianship for our son, which Othhopedic Institute HAS ON FILE. We moved out of state & requested records sent to our son's new provider. My husband, LISTED AS A LEGAL GUARDIAN, requested this AGAIN after my first request. It was CONFIRMED BY LINDSAY, that records were sent. Three weeks later, I find a BLOCKED MESSAGE, due to "potential spam", stating that I HAD TO CONFIRM THE REQUEST BECAUSE MY HUSBAND, THE CO-GUARDIAN WAS NOT IN THE RECORDS AS A CONTACT. Did I mention that GUARDIANSHIP COURT DOCUMENTS ARE ON FILE AT OIW STATING LISTING MY HUSBAND & I AS LEGAL GUARDIANS??? I was transferred to a managers VOICE MAIL. When I called back, the same person told me to wait for a return call. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE THAT CALL. CONTINUITY OF CARE IS CLEARLY NOT A PRIORITY TO OIW. THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF THE HEALTH CARE CRISIS, where fear of HIPPA OUTWEIGHS CONTINUATION OF CARE FOR PATIENTS WITH COGNITIVE DISABILITY & STAFF IGNORANCE ABOUT LEGAL GUARDIANSHIP & POWER OF ATTORNEY, THAT CONTINUES TO CREATE DELAYS & LIMITS OUR SON'S & OTHERS CARE, DESPITE OUR COURT DOCUMENTED RIGHTS! OH, YES! THE LIMITS OF MY PATIENCE & ANY HUMAN POSIBILITY OF MY GRACE TOWARD ANY OF OIW STAFF. CARE PROVIDERS WITH COURT DOCUMENTATION OF LEGAL GUARDIANSHIP & POWER OF ATTORNEY BEWARE!

      Great medical treatment.
Less than great followup. The office refuses to process the Wisconsin Dept of Transportation's (DOT) disabled parking permit renewal as they have in the past.
      1. telephone staff is helpless. Their response is "we don't do that. You must have your primary sign." Don't bother asking to talk with a supervisor. Office staff put your call on hold and forget. I hung up after 10 minutes on hold.
      2. I sent the form from the Wisconsin DOT more than a month ago and never got a response from the Ortho office. Never had this problem before with that office. Also never got a reply from the Ortho office. The staff had no idea what I could do next without an appointment,
      3. The telephone staff from the DOT were more helpful. They explained that any medical professional who is familiar with the condition of my knees can sign. It is not required by the DOT that the medical professional be the "primary" as telephone staff said." My records are held by Ortho Institute and there are at least 2 certified medical professionals there who personally know and signed my medical records.
      4. I expect to be treated with respect, not as a beggar. If the office changed procedures, the professional action is to notify patients/customers that the paper from DOT is never going to be signed and send it back to the patient. That is the bare minimum.
Not handling patient requests appropriately makes me wonder what else has changed for the worse since the surgeries I had. Lack of decent communication with patients reflects on the overall business.
