I am a homeowner. I wanted to take down about 5 dead trees and ask about another tree that the leaves are turning brown on. The man from the company came to my home August of 2023. I asked for two seprate proposals. I never received anything. I never signed any proposal or even saw any proposal. Yesterday, November 20, 2023, I received an invoice for fertilizing ALL 26 of my trees for $1,266.00! They claim they fertilized on October 25, 2023, two months later. I never received a phone-call, any notice, no card in the door or sign that they were at my home. I never saw them on my property! Nothing. I can not work with a company that trespasses onto my property, has no signed contract, claims they did work I never asked for, and is now demanding payment for work I have no idea that they did or didn't do. Last I heard this is extortion!

She accepted our proposal via our electronic confirmation system on Sept. 1st 2023.  Our sales arborist emailed back acknowledging this on Sept. 4th letting her know this fertilization order was in our system.  On Oct. 18th our plant health care manager sent her an email letting her know we were coming.  Upon completion we sent an electronic receipt of what we did and the invoice in a separate email.   We have an excellent system for communication with our clients and did everything right here.  We will continue to consider her invoice outstanding and will work towards getting paid for our services.  We have documentation of all of our correspondence with her.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I never signed or sent in my proposal. I never even saw a proposal until November. I have a copy of the proposal that I asked their office secretary to send me, after I received the invoice in November.  This was the first time I saw the proposal. I called the secretary and she sent it to me and "Nothing is signed"! Nothing is approved, because I never saw the proposal until I got a bill. Somehow, this company is manufacturing e-mails and claiming they sent all sorts of things to me. I have never received anything! Nothing! Yet every time I turn around, a new e-mail shows up. I didn't even get a phone-call to ask if I am receiving their e-mails. This company is working with my neighbor, and has sent e-mails to my neighbor. However my neighbor can not authorize work on my property. I am the customer for my property. My neighbor can not approve anything on my property because my neighbor does not own my property. I am the owner. I don't know what kind of games this company is playing, but they are unethical and somehow sending e-mails and blocking me from receiving them.

I am a 73 year old person and this is elder abuse. Their lies are massive! I would never treat a customer like this. All they had to do was send the proposal by US Mail back in August. If I wasn't responding, all they had to do was call me by telephone. This company can claim anything they want, but my proposal is not signed (see attachment) and companies can not act on any neighbor's say so.

Since the woman does not remember accepting the quote, it may have been accepted by her son.  Her son was having similar work done close by and was the one that original called us.   As mentioned previously we have email documentation of the acceptance through our acceptance web form.    I hope she communicates with her son and can contact me back at ************  August Hoppe

[I have gone to the Geek Squad at Best Buy to have them look at my computer to make sure there is nothing wrong with my settings or anything else with me receiving e-mails from Hoppe Tree or their employee. Best Buy has verified for me that there is nothing wrong with my computer or settings and has stated that if an e-mail was sent to me from Hoppe, I would have received it. Best Buy verified that the problem is not with my computer. They said "if Hoppe sent any e-mails to me, I would have received them". Best Buy could find nothing on my computer from Hoppe. They found: no e-mails, no proposals, no e-mails stating they/Hoppe were coming to my home, no e-mails received or sent from me and my computer with regard to anything. Perhaps the truth is this company Hoppe NEVER sent me anything and I never saw anything, or signed anything, as I have been stating all along. Best Buy verified the problem is not on my end.  Note: Best Buy verified the mistake is with your employee, because if your employee had sent anything to me, I would have received it.

      Regards,
