I hired Red Diamond in September 2024 to remove the asbestos siding on my house and replace it with vinyl siding. They were also supposed to cover the house's foundation with decorative stone veneer and replace the siding on the garage (not asbestos) to match the house. They did remove the asbestos siding in October 2024 and that was the only part of the contract they fulfilled, although they couldn't even do that without cracking a window and leaving broken glass around my front door. I spent the next 7 months calling ******* weekly, being told that they would return to finish the job 'soon'. They left my house without siding and exposed to the elements all fall, winter, and spring. In April ******* finally sent a crew to my house to begin installing the new siding. After siding half of my house they left and never came back to finish. As I inspected the siding that had been installed, I realized that it was all wrong. The rows of siding were crooked, pieces were cut so poorly they didn't fit properly, and there were gaps around windows and doors that water could leak into. Everything that ********* people had installed needed to be taken off and redone. Much of the material wasn't reusable. Another month passed with no effort from Red Diamond to fix the terrible work they had done or to complete the job. I finally had enough of their incompetence and asked for a partial refund. After talking with *******, I agreed that they didn't need to refund me the cost of removing the asbestos siding since they did do that much at least. I only asked for the money I had paid them for installing the new siding to be returned, because that was the part of the contract they had failed to complete. In early May 2025 ******* agreed to refund me $3,250. I am still waiting for ******* to return my money. He has been giving me all the same excuses for the delay that he used to explain why he couldn't fulfill our contract for more than half a year.

First, I would like to start by saying we take any and all complaints very seriously. We do our best to come to a sensible resolution. After talking to the homeowner, it was decided that he no longer wanted us to finish the project because of time delays and requested a partial refund. Time, distance and weather along with personnel changes was a factor in completing this project. I was not made aware nor received photos of any windows being broken. If so, I would have came up with a sensible solution to fix the issue. Red Diamond was payed $8,750 as a down payment, $5,500 was for the asbestos abatement which was completed successfully. $2,600 was used to purchase siding. We were willing to refund the difference, but the homeowner stated that he wanted more. Red Diamond was willing to absorb the cost of travel, expenses as well as man hours for our crew, but the homeowner then again stated that the refund was not enough.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I informed ******* of the cracked window, including sending him a picture of it. I have attached a screenshot of that text to his listed phone number.

When we discussed a refund, he said he would eat the cost of the materials he had purchased because the time to come retrieve was going to be more than he could get back from returning those materials, and because who owed me after the seven months of chaos he put me through. He agreed to refund me $3,250 (the 8750 I paid him minus 5500) and he never disputed that number over the phone or in text, screenshots of which I have also submitted.

    Regards,

    ******* *******

********** with Red Diamond Mold Remediation peformed a sub par job with my asbestos removal. He wrecked my hardwood floors while taking out the asbestos flooring and was arguing with me telling me his tools did not do that. IN addition, his trash bag was not properly sealed when he left and it leaked asbestos tile pieces all over my stair case, and outside steps. He left pieces of asbestos around my kitchen cabinet, with raw unsealed edges. He left a pile of asbetos dust on my stairwell. He left a piece of asbestos tiling in my entryway. When I sent him pictures of my wrecked oak floors. He came on sight and told me that his tools didn't make those marks even though his ridgid cuting tool was a perfect fit for the marks. He agreed to come and finish removing the asbestos linoleum flooring around my kitchen cabinets but told me that I would have to sign a release of waiver for damages. I had the marks left on my oak floors and kitchen cabinets examined by a certified flooring LLC who said those are freshly made cuts. When Saturday came, he did not show up to do the job and instead told me his dog was sick and wouldn't ****, eat or drink. I requested a return of my funds due to damages done on my house. ******* did not respond to my email. In addition, ******* did not seal off my bathroom and basement door when removing 15% asbestos linoleum in the adjacent room which is considered friable and you are supposed to put a containment up per state law. He tested the air quality in the kitchen afterwards and it was within the industry standard. However, the dust and small particles have now infected my basement and bathroom which are off the kitchen. He also texted me that I could remove the containment walls myself. I texted him asking for a partial refund of ***** or I would have to get a lawyer to which he replied, ****** I have proof that there was no asbestos dust lets go to court I 'm not going back and forth with you."

    Business Response

This is my response to a complaint that was received on 11/28/2022 ID# ********. Upon entering the customers home we noticed that the home was filthy; dirty clothes underwear, tampons, dirty dishes, and old food everywhere.  We then informed the customer in order for us to do an ******************** job the home must be cleaned and abatement areas must remain empty. I have an email from this customer who stated I do not want you back in my home I just want my money back. We have proof that our tools did not make the marks on her floor. An air test was performed at the residence which Micro Analytical proved that there was no fibers in her home, if there was the air test would have showed this. I found out later on that this customer is a scam artist. She is a teacher who mysteriously hurt her hand at work and is trying to *** her job. Also, she is trying to *** the church that was willing to help her because of her financial difficulties. They installed breathing vents to her attic and they also asked her repeatedly to have the mold removed from the attic so that they could complete the job. This customer also never made me aware that she had high radon levels in her home. In order for her to have any pictures of anything being left behind she had to have taken pictures when my crew and I went to lunch. All customers are told and made aware that they cannot go in containment at any given time until remediation is complete and final clean up is performed. We built a full containment around all areas that was being remediated. I feel that since we are a small and new company who went above and beyond and out of our way to help this customer who purchased a home with many, many difficulties. I feel as though she is doing whatever she can to not only get work done for free but to help her with a home that is in much needed repair. We stand by our work and we follow the law. We also have many customers that has never had any of these problems, we have many great reviews and In response for not being fully paid and being exposed to radon we are placing a Lien on this property

    Yours truly,
