    Business Response

    Date: 05/29/2024

On 4/10/24 the customer ****** ***** called the office of K&M and explained his gas tank fell out and that he needed a tow truck to pick him up. We contacted a tow company we use and they picked Mr *****’s Jeep up and we added the tow charge to Mr *****s invoice at cost.

Once the vehicle arrived it was clearly evident the gas tank had drug the ground and was driven until it no longer could hold any fuel. (Attatched are pictures of the tank and a media outlet notice verifying the tank was damaged) Kenny explained to the customer via phone that the tank had fell due to a rusty frame that the factory tank straps no longer had anything to hold onto to support the tank.

Kenny also explained the vehicle should not have passed safely inspection (unknown station) if the vehicle would have thoroughly inspected it would have been known to Mr ***** that this vehicle was not road safe. That due to this frame rust the only options was to purchase a new vehicle Mr ***** explained he didn’t or couldn’t purchase a new vehicle, the option was then given that he would have to have a new tank as his old fuel tank had a hole from dragging down the road.

Mr ***** accepted that would be fine and that the repairs to evap lines fuel lines fuel filler neck and transfer of his fuel pump to keep the bill low and the ratchet straps would be fine until he could get a new vehicle which he still had no intentions too. (Clear picture attatched of invoice) Mr ***** was called once the repairs where complete and asked for one of the techs to pick him up. As a courtesy we do for a select few we sent a tech to pick Mr ***** up.

The Jeep broke down on its way to his house but was fine on the test drive before Mr ***** was called. So the second tow charge was added to the bill again at our cost and the vehicle at this time had the fuel pump go out. The repair was made using a new fuel pump and Mr ***** was picked up and when arriving was irate about the second tow bill.

We explained due to it breaking down on the way to pick him up which is a courtesy and not on the test drive once the repair was first made he was responsible for the tow. It would have been the equivalent as if he picked up and left as he would have been driving. (Our Test drive includes 20-30 minutes of run time and 10-15 minute drive to verify pump and evap functions) which was prior to the tech going to pick him up.
