When purchasing my car from Moutaineer Honda, there was a line item called “Brake Plus” which is supposed to make your center brake light flash to decrease rear end collisions per the dealership. It costed $399+tax. I didn’t know until a few weeks of owning the car the light wasn’t flashing. Thinking something was wrong with it, I went back to the dealer. I was then informed by a mechanic that this product is not permitted to be on my brand of car from the Brake Plus company. The dealership tried to substitute the Brake Plus package for a wheel and tire warranty of the same value. I declined after negations and had to argue with many heated words to get a reimbursement check that didn’t include sales tax that I had paid. I then had to fight to get the sales tax money back. When questioning finance employees about my loan, the two men I spoke with gave me different numbers, neither of which matched what my loan was actually for. I am not sure either one of them know how the loans actually work since they can’t come up with my total borrowed amount, and this is something they do on a daily basis, scary. I was also told by finance that my loan interest compounded daily, I informed him the loan interest accrued daily and didn’t compound daily…he angrily said, “We are not having this conversation!” and got up to guide me out of the office. These are not words to leisurely throw around and need to be used correctly, or do they not know what they mean.?!
I recommend using caution when going to this used car dealer, Mountaineer Honda, ask very direct questions, and demand direct answers that you understand. Do not let them rush you thru your finance signing process, done electronically. Make them show you all numbers. They are recording you, you record them and hold them liable and accountable for inaccurate information, whether that be inadvertently or intentionally. Make sure they give you all papers. I did not get the ****** for my car that I signed for.
