On the morning of October 14th I was involved in a car accident. Once they arrived they called J & J to get my car. Around 9am that same morning I called because the tow driver and the responding officers thought that maybe all I would need is a tire to make it driveable again. I did reach a lady on the phone, told her everything and she said she would look into it and get back to me. Never heard back from her. I began calling again Monday. Finally later in the afternoon I got through to someone. She confirmed I needed a tire and rim but they didn’t have one. Called back to let them know and no answer. Their website said they opened at 8am. I borrowed a car and was there by 8:23am. The office was locked and I called several times with no response. At 9am I called my dad who was a police officer and he suggested I call the non emergency police line which I did. The officer immediately got a hold of them and he told me to get my car. The gentleman that met me told me he didn’t know how much it was and then told me if I wanted he could just simply put my spare tire on and I could drive it out of there! I went and got my friend from work and asked her to come back with me so I could get my car. He told me the credit card machine was down so we stopped and got cash. Then when I got there the credit card machine worked. He could not tell me why the amount was so high, how many storage days I was charged for, how much I was charged for the tire change or how much the tow was. I asked for an invoice or bill and he told me he couldn’t provide one. I asked him if I could get one emailed and he said yes which I still have not gotten! They could have put the spare on Saturday and not charged me the storage for the unknown amount of days and they could have provided an itemized bill. I feel they scammed me and charged for unnecessary storage days. I spoke to someone 2 times trying to pay and I called 16 times between Saturday and Tuesday morning trying to get my car.

      Better Business Bureau:

At this time, I have not been contacted by J & J Auto Salvage & Parts regarding complaint ID ********.

I still have not received an invoice/receipt of tow to claim the accident on my insurance. The company’s attempt to hide their shady business and fees has resulted in a costly bill my car insurance should have covered, simply with their receipt.  Unfortunately, at this time, I now believe my window to file a claim is closed.
