I went to Fick eye care for a basic eye exam for glasses. On 1/8/25. Prior to my appointment I called to confirm the cost of this visit they said it would be $124. Private pay or $112 with my insurance. I secondly text with this office to a second time confirm the cost they told me the same thing. $124 out of pocket $112 with my insurance. I have gone here before and they had my insurance on file. I received a bill in the mail saying I owed $84.44 more. I called them they said my insurance deductible wasn’t met. I told them they should’ve known that when giving me the cost. The charges are also completely different insurance verses private pay. Private pay is 52$ and 35$ for determination refractive and optomap. Where as insurance has those charges plus $140 for a comprehensive eye exam. I explained to the lady who in there right mind would choose insurance over private pay if it was going to be $84 more dollars out of pocket. This is robbery. I’d like by bill written off or changed to private pay. I’m which case private pay would be paid in full. Thank you

*****'s last visit (previous to January) was paid by her insurance company and we didn't hear any complaints.  This year her same insurance company did not pay.  ***** can contact her insurance company to understand the complexities of why they didn't pay on her claim.  Or ***** could have spoken to our billing manager.   We submitted our services to her insurance company and they sent us back an explanation of benefits which explains her coverage.   Insurance can be a confusing process and apologize for any miscommunication.  We can write off part of her $84.44 balance to the amount of $12 to match her expectations of her cost outlay.  (She paid $112 on date of service and would owe $12 more to match the "private pay" prompt pay discounted rate).  We will notify *****'s insurance company that these charges do not apply to her deductible.
