I am writing to file a consumer complaint against Go Mart #47, located in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, regarding deceptive business practices, financial inconsistencies, and unethical employee conduct that have directly impacted my ability to shop safely.
On March 11, 2025, I visited the store and experienced manipulative behavior from two employees who engaged in behavior meant to exploit me and then bond over it in the store together as if my discomfort were amusing. Additionally, unethical receipt practices led the manager and corporate office to falsely deny my presence in the store altogether. Despite providing my bank statement proving my purchase and screenshots of private messages discussing the incident that happened with his coworker—who was fully aware of the manipulation taking place and actively participated to influence the situation, reinforcing the deceptive tactics used against me—corporate has refused to acknowledge the situation and has engaged in gaslighting tactics to dismiss my concerns.
Key Concerns:
1. Failure to issue a receipt, leading corporate to falsely claim the transaction did not occur.
2. Corporate denial of my presence despite clear financial evidence, suggesting intentional record manipulation.
3. Stonewalling of my complaint and refusal to address unethical business practices.
4. Employee manipulation during my visit, reinforced by a malignant workplace culture.
5. Substance use and unethical behavior observed within the store, raising further concerns about regulatory violations.
Despite repeated attempts to resolve this issue internally, Go Mart has failed to engage in any meaningful accountability, leaving me with no choice but to escalate this matter to an external consumer protection agency. I am attaching relevant documentation and messages that support my claims.Business Response

This complaint has come across our desks multiple times and has been addressed internally. It is not a customers right to be made aware of formal actions or discussions with our employees. We have addressed the situation and the continued discussions by the customer towards our employees are the only thing keeping this issue going.
1. These text messages are confusing, out of order, and as you can clearly see from the screenshots have elements hidden. We have no way of confirming who this person is actually speaking to.
2. No one from corporate has ever spoken to this customer nor denied purchases made within our store. Receipts are always saved in our system and if they were relevant to this conversation could have been provided to the customer. They are not relevant to this conversation so they were not provided nor were they requested.
3. It is this customers choice to shop this location or to choose not to shop this location. We have handled the situation internally and the customer will not be made aware of those discussions.
It is our determination that this customer has personal issues with employees that are not relevant to our business.

After speaking to the Supervisor and store manager we feel strongly that this individual has been asked previously not to return to our location. We have the right to refuse service to any individual and we feel we have a very valid reason to do so for this customer. Store is taking steps to formally ban them from the store.Initial Complaint

The issue was addressed within 24 hours of the original complaint. The customer received all bonus points during each of the transactions. The only issue was that an item he was purchasing wasn't included in the promotion. I informed Mr. ******* that I couldn't give him the bonus points as he hadn't originally met the qualifications, but that upon review he had been back to the store and purchased the correct item. He was awarded the 2500 points in addition to all other points owed. He felt like he should be awarded something that he hadn't earned based on his inconvenience, but upon review of the entire situation I disagreed. The fact that I disagreed and didn't give him points that he had not earned does not equal rude, hostile, or judgmental.Customer Answer

My husband got gas today on August 1, 2022 at go Mart in Buckhannon West Virginia he used a card to pay at the pump only pumped $25 worth of gas and go Mart proceeded to take $80 off of my card when I went in and confronted the cashiers about it they said that it is something new that Gomart is doing where they’re taking $100 out of the account so that they know that they have enough to cover amount of gas that you get and that it can take up to three business days for the amount to be corrected and put back on to a persons card. To me this is theft and fraud considering I have to be able to use whatever money is on my card that I don’t intend on spending for gas for other necessities for my home for my children or for an emergency of any kind that could come up but they don’t seem to care about that they told me that if I need emergency services then I need to call for them and that I needed to give them three days before my money would go back onto my card now mind you as I got partway through this my money did go back onto my card but considering the fact that I had to wait three hours and I know others who have had the same problem at the same store and they have waited between 24 and 72 hours to get their money back this is ridiculous some of us don’t even have $100 on our cards to me this is a type of like I said theft or fraud because they’re taking money out of our accounts that we’re not giving the OK for and then we’re expected to wait up to three days before receiving our money back God for bid something were to happen that we needed that money for an emergency and we can’t get to it because they’re taking our money this needs to be resolved and resolved NOW I am going to be letting others know that they can put in a complaint because this is getting out of hand we can’t even go to the gas station and pump gas now because the gas station wants to take all of our money and expect us to wait up to 72 hours to get it back. Please fix this NOW!!!
