    Our experience was HORRIBLE!! About a year ago my daughter and husband adopted a cat from the Ritchie County Humane Society and was told the cat they were getting was already spayed. My 16 year old daughter started receiving phone calls a year later saying we needed to show proof we got her spayed because it was state law and action would be taken. My daughter was in tears thinking they were going to come take her cat away. I assured her that was not going to happen and made an apt with the vet for a spay even though they told us she was spayed. The first issue was the rabies tag the Humane Society gave us with our cat was not registered to any animal so I had to pay for another rabies vaccine. The day we took our cat to get spayed the vet called after cutting open my cat and said she was indeed already spayed and I was stuck paying OVER $400. The vets office kindly refunded $100. When I contacted the Ritchie County Humane Society I was told it was my issue not theirs! This is ridiculous places can get away with this!
