We were charged almost 5 times ($5k) the national average for the ******, just the prescription.

I was already in the process of getting one mistake fixed and noticed this charge. When I researched the average it's about $1,300.

After calling and pointing this out their response was it's legal and they won't reverse it so I should have looked on their website first for pricing.

Granted, yes, but forgive me for not thinking my local Healthcare system would overcharge us even more than what Americans pay compared to other countries already, at least not by FOUR GRAND!

Due to the common issues clients have within this medical system, I will be pursuing any and every other avenue possible to not only resolve my situation here, but also help other lower income people trying to survive through these insane price inflation.

This may be legal, but it is disgustingly morbid. Our healthcare system should not being doing this to anyone, anywhere.

    Business Response

    For complaint filed by ****** ******* on behalf of ****** ******* ************
The cost the patient is referencing is the average wholesale price, that’s the cost just to procure
the product and bring it in the door. A markup is then applied to the cost of the medications to
account for all of the work that goes into preparing products, getting them to the proper
location, and prepping them for the patient.
That charge is accurate. The amount allowed by her insurance for this medication is $4,206.42
so that is all she’s truly billed and the other $751.58 is adjusted off on our end.
Her patient responsibility is high because she must have a high deductible plan. Her insurance
paid $291.13 and her copay came in at $291.14 and deductible came in at $3,624.15. Based
upon our contractual agreement with her insurance, we are obligated to bill the patient for the
amount determined by BCBS to be patient responsibility.
We have payment plan option or financial assistance for patients that can’t afford to pay in full.
    Thank you.
