    On 10/20/2022, My wife went to Tri State medical supply to obtain **** supplies for myself. This facility has always charged our insurance and billed any difference to us. We do not have any outstanding balance. This time my wife was forced to pay up front out of pocket. She was told they would bill the insurance and any difference would be reimbursed. On 10/26/2022, I called the facility and spoke to manager Paula. I was informed they will bill anything they like. If I did not like it, I could take my business elsewhere. I informed her I believe that medical billing practices requires an explanation of benefits from the insurance provider before a secondary and/or patient may be billed. I was informed "That is not how we do business."

    Please see the attached correspondence between Tri State Medical and customer for your review.  

    Tri State Medical's policy is to charge customers known deductible and coinsurance up front for items picked up at our location or shipped directly to their home.  In the event the deductible amount is not able to be obtained via online verification or via health insurance representative by telephone at the time of service (and/or the item is a continued monthly rental) we will send a statement once the insurance has processed the claim.   This is a well known practice within the home supply business industry.

    We only bill the customer/insurance for the items our customer requests and receives; please review attachments that include insurance deductible verification and the items billed to the customer (which have also been sent to the customer). 
    We would never ask our customers to take their business elsewhere; as they can choose to do business anywhere, and we are happy they choose and want them to continue to choose Tri State Medical for all their current and future needs.
